Parker Penman Emerald vs Graf von Faber-Castell Moss Green

I was planning to do this comparison for a while (about 8 months). Why did it take this long?
Good question....and it doesn't even matter I think.
Here it is

On the scans you can spot the difference somewhat easily, but to the naked eye they are very similar.
The Emerald is a more vivid green, and the Moss Green is just a bit more "mossy" I'd say. Haha
Both of them shade nicely and behave great, no problems at all.

I love the Maruman paper, because its very smooth, but it bleeds pretty easily with a wetter nib.

IMG_1_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.jpg

A little bling and a little moss (and some bleed-through, but as I said earlier its just the paper)

IMG_002_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.jpg

This is on some thinner notebook paper.

A bit of Clairefontaine.

They both can have a nice pinkish/purplish sheen!

GvFC Moss Green

Some extreme moss sheen remained from an ink drop.

Moss Green on top, Emerald on the bottom.

And a little surprising result (at least for me) from the Moss Green (on the left):

The is a whole lotta blue in the GvFC.
The Emerald also showed a little blue what can be seen on the previous scan.

I hope you found this interesting

Nice colors!

As an aside, can I ask where you bought them? I see we're both from the same country, and I've found it very hard to get hold of any fountain pen ink at all. Some stores sell basic colors (blue + black), but that's about it.

Wow, that's a great comparison!

Definitely not the same ink, but close enough to pass regular use.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Very good comparison. I like Penman Emerald but Moss Green is - for me - green no. 1.

A very interesting comparison between the two inks.  Penman Emerald Green has been my signature ink since I found it shortly after it came out back in the 1990's.  I am down to my last bottle of it.  I think I will be investing in a bottle of Graf Von Faber Castell Moss Green ink in the near future.

Thank you so much everyone!

Exactly!

I have to say, I feel the same.
I generally prefer inks that are not too vivid, and I feel the Emerald is just a hair more vivid than what I'd like for everyday use.
Not saying that I don't like it, its beautiful, but the mossy green works a little bit better for me.
(I could also say that I like it a bit dirty, but I think it would be too ambiguous, so I won't do that...)

I'm happy if this could help you to find the possible substitute!
