It's almost that time again!  Left Handers Day is on Wednesday, August 13.  There are a lot of fun resources at the Left Handers Club website.  They have posters you can print off, and these graphics.  See last year's thread here (with even more fun images)

These images are from the Left Handers Club:

How will you celebrate Left Handers Day?  I hope you'll post your lefty's scrawl here!

Hey, fibredrunk,

How's it going? Glad to see you post. Sure, you write left-handed, but you still knit with both hands.

Enjoy,

Yours,
Randal

From a person's actions, we may infer attitudes, beliefs, --- and values. We do not know these characteristics outright. The human dichotomies of trust and distrust, honor and duplicity, love and hate --- all depend on internal states we cannot directly experience. Isn't this what adds zest to our life?

As a neuroscientist studying laterality, seeing this post has made my day!~

Sadly, I am right handed. However, I can tell you that the vast majority of Muppets are lefties. :)

Can't we all just get along ?

Hi,

"How will you celebrate Left Handers Day?"

I'm not left handed myself but as there is a Lefty's day I think I'll remember my Grandfather. (Also a good time since it's 100yrs since WW1)

He was born about 1900 and was left handed. At school they tied his left hand behind his back and made him write with his right hand.

But he would always pick up a hammer in his left hand. (not to hit the teacher with I hasten to add).

I'm glad things have changed.

Cheers

Andy

I'm glad, too.  Seems hard to believe that that's how they used to treat lefties, and worse.

I have to buy the "Keep Left and Carry on" Poster and the left-handed zone one as both my partner and I are left-handed. Think I'll have to post some of my leftie writing as well!

On another note: My father was left handed and he also had his hand tied behind his back (late 1940s). He wrote right-handed (always with a FP) and blamed his "poor" handwriting on the forced change.

Attempts were made to force my Aunty (mother's sister) to write right-handed in the early 1950s but gave up when my 1.45m, 38kg Grandmother threatened extreme violence!

Left-handers' day is a big day in my mainly left-handed, extended family.

Tomorrow is the big day!  Here's a fun left-handed test you can take:

How left handed are you?

My own score was 74% "mainly left-handed" (60-90% means mainly left handed... well, duh)

See the left handed test results here.

Thought I'd post the southpaw scratch of my favorite poet, William Stafford.  He didn't have pretty handwriting, but his poetry was awesome!

I am a leftie. I started school in 1950 but was never forced to use my right hand, maybe because I had already learned to write when I got there. I'm not completely left-handed. I don't use knife and fork the wrong way round, and I don't use left-handed scissors.

I didn't take the test as I didn't want to give my email address. Can't think why it would be necessary, and I'm already inundated with junk emails.

Happy lefty's day ~ I'm a lefty underwriter and, being new to the FP world, am so happy that I'm not smearing ink!  For some reason I thought it would be impossible to write lefty with a FP.

I took the test and got a 96.  There's also a test with a spinning ballerina which indicates which side of your brain is dominant.  I'll try to find it and edit it into this post.

Here it is, although wikipedia says the test isn't about brain hemisphere dominance ~  http://en.wikipedia....cer#cite_note-6

In any event, have a great night fellow lefties!
