What a beautiful color ~ thank you for the comparison image. It seems in between Blaze Orange and Sepia. Very nice.

Thanks for the review, nice! I very much like this new ink.

1. Has anybody the experience that it also builds up crystals and crud as Diamine Ancient Copper does?

2. Curious to know how it compares to Orange Indien of J. Herbin

I'm curious to see a side-by-side with Noodlers Apache Sunset. It seems to my eye that this could be a contender in the same colour family and shading range. Gorgeous review.

Cybaea's scans remind me of Apache Sunset too. Or perhaps Private Reserve Shoreline Gold. But...

mallymal1's scan looks more like Sailor Apricot.

Hi Raging Dragon...sorry, but I don't have any of the inks you mentioned to make a comparison...and my image is a photo, not a scan, if that makes any difference.

I just bought a bottle of Apache Sunset and it is very similar in colour and shading. AS shades a tonne, and it looks like AO shades a tonne too. Best shading occurs on fatter stubbier nibs with AS.

No sheen though.

Autumn Oak. What a wonderful, evocative name! After returning to this review several days in a row, I decided resistance was futile. I just had to have this lovely ink. I ordered through Cult Pens so I could also get some of the Deep Dark series inks I've been wanting. Total haul: 7 inks in the small bottles for a total of $41 USD. Not bad! I got Autumn Oak, Tyrian Purple, Deep Dark Orange, DD Purple, DD Blue, DD Red, DD Brown. It's been over a year since I ordered any inks for myself, so this will be quite a treat!

Deep Dark Orange and Deep Dark Purple are really gorgeous colours. Edited by migo984

Very pretty.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Ordered yesterday, arrived today.

Autumn oak is mad shader!

I know nothing about flexing, but I want to learn because of this this ink (and Apache Sunset)

Edit: this image got super compressed during upload :/

Mishka5050- that's wonderful! They do seem to look alike in that image. Am I going crazy or does the AS appear to have some pink tones compared to the AO?

Anyway this will be great for those on the board who are interested in AS but have a hard time getting ahold of Noodlers Inks.

The praise of the praiseworthy is above all rewards.

@hallel unfortunately there is no pink irl-it's some kind of distortion which happened at compression :(

You are spot on about AO being AS replacement for those outside US!

Love your pink-orange idea!!!

I want some pink-orange ink :))))))

@cybaea cultpens are lucky to have you-I'm sure their sales of AO&TP went crazy :)))))

Great to see AS and AO together.

I was considering ordering AS from the US, but now I think I'll try something else. The AO will do me for now.

Thank you Mishka.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
