Bruce, -  Congratulations on selling your old blue pen.  It's not the record, but $114.48 isn't bad for a "first time" pen seller.

This little thread appears to have paid off for me, hopefully.  As I looked at Bruce's listing last night, another listing scrolled across the bottom of the screen.  Long story short, it appears that I now have an early transition J with a 2668 nib, for a total price of $9.95.  The seller turns out to be right across town from me, and the shipping will be waived so I can just pick it up.  My first Estie...and I also have a 9550 nib on the way.

GW, you Stole that pen!

That is the earliest Tranny with the 3 rib or some call it Toaster jewel. It is my Favorite of the J family. It's Toaster top is Pure Art Deco to me and the unbranded clip is classically clean while the whole pen still screams Estiebrook.

I can't zoom in on the pics like usual for some reason, but I suspect that "discoloration" on the cap is just scunge that will easily polish off.

And the free local pick-up is only Chocky sprinkles on the cake frosting.  :P

Pat Yourself on the back, you did good.(sic)

Lord knows I am no official determiner of The Sumgai (or Sumgal)

I went back and looked at your listing. You paid $10, I forgot, no shipping.

I myself would probably just leave that at a Really Good Deal though you're pretty close.  I'd say a Sumgai would be say $5-6.

Saved, to be printed, and I want it autographed.

A masterpiece!

edited.. that did not read with enough emphasis >  "Masterpiece"

should be captured as a well written description to discern a win/win sales event.
