Gamma Violet - Raduga

I'm not really into violets. I use them from time to time, but not often. Anyway Gamma Violet is decent ink. If only it was accessible outside the Russia for the russan price (around 1 dollar) it would be really good choice for violet ink fans. Especially that it's a little bit waterproof.

Nice

I am not a great fan of violet either...

I only own Pelikan 4001 brilliant violet and J herbin Poussiere de Lune.....

I love the Herbin though.... It is not really violet but more like amethist....

I have compared these inks in an Allied Forces review I believe....

Thanks for the review

Tricked throughout the centuries...

For centuries people had been tricked by kings & "religion-alism"

In the 20th century people got tricked by communism

Today people get tricked by (neo)capitalism :)

@Amberlea - I wouldn't recommend it for the price unless the money is not an issue and someone is building a collection of inks from around the world. The ink is decent and quite waterproof. It flows well, but I would say that it's not worth 15 $. A friend in Poland gas friends in Russia and he'll be able to get all colors for 5 $ (shipment includeed). If he'll share the ink with me, I'll post reviews of other colors. The ink is good but I just can't justify paying that much to eBay seller.

  • 2 years later...

As noted recently in the Enzo Ferrari thread, the ink is now down below $5 / bottle rather than $15.

I am curious to know whether anyone has tried any of the other colours? This is the only review of Raduga.

I have used this ink. I paid the ebay price because that was the only way for me to get some. This ink will stain soft plastic materials, particularly those used to make the ink sacs on Chinese aerometric fill pens. There's also an Indian Oliver Exam that is stained purple too. I have cleaned out the pens with warm water & normal detergents, but I have not yet tried anything more aggressive.

The Raduga violet is more saturated than the Diamine Violet is. However if Diamine violet is not as saturated it may be less likely to stain a pen. I am just glad I didn't use it with a more expensive pen or one made with a section made of very pale material.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
