Yes it does... Blue Cashmere always looked purple-ish to me.. I wonder if with more dilution looks more blue.

We'll find out later this evening.

If the mixture in the pipette was 16%, then this is 8%. The color is a little more purple and a little less dark, but it does not excite me. I am a long-time black-ink-only writer, and while I have come over to the un-Dark Side, if I'm going to use a colored ink, I want the color to jump off the page and kick me in the [eye]balls. This purple doesn't do that.

After I've finished the other pipettes, I may try cutting the concentration down to 4% and see how that looks. If it excites me, I'll do some pages; if not, I'll just add a note to this thread.

I think Blue Cashmere is a keeper. I like it quite a bit.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

General observations of Blue Cashmere (1st):
Like Red and Green Cashmere, I loved this ink as soon as I saw the pipette. I couldn't wait to try this one.

I love the color.
It performed well in all of the pens I tested, with great flow.

It was a little hard to start after even just a few minutes of resting, but I think that could easily be tweaked. That might be a little better at, say, 12%, instead of 16%, too.

Even with the hard start, I would buy this ink. I love the purple cast to it.

Don't believe everything you think.

  • 2 weeks later...

Blue Cashmere at 8%.

I love this purple color. It also seems much better behaved at 8%. I would have bought it at 16%, and dealt with the hard starts in a few pens because the color is so great, but this is even better.

It did, and has been starting with no issues every day since! I actually kept all of my 8% dilutions inked up and have only had issues with the Blue Diamond Ball one, but that one was a little dry at 8% to start with.

This is my review of Blue Cashmere at 16%. I like the color and the ink is very well behaved. The Blue Cashmere and Red Cashmere are my favorites.

There's something special about this one. This one's a keeper.

It lays down a beautifully rich almost black line and splits into dark blues and magentas when washed. Yum.

No feathering seen, even on cheapo paper. Well done Mr or Mrs Susemai.

Amber, thanks again.

Hmm. Not sure I like how it's come out on this Seawhite watercolour paper.

With hindsight I shouldn't have used a wash. Grrr.

I'm REALLY liking the colour of the line though. Really rich and dark. Some sheen too for those that like that sort of thing.

A bit of nib dry out does sadly occur after only a short while left uncapped but hey ho, can't have everything.

Hello Tas,

WOW! This is a beautiful color! It looks like a classic indigo from days gone by. I love the look of it - I hope it makes it onto the market just as it is.

Best regards,

Chris

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
