Kaweco Nib Replacement Options

I'm looking for a replacement nib for my kaweco classic sport, but the only replacement nib I can find from a u.s. retailer is part number 060, which supposedly is not compatible with the classic sport model. I'm thinking maybe the nib itself can be swapped out, and it's the whole feed/nib/housing that is incompatible as sold? Can anyone confirm?

Or would it be possible to buy a non-kaweco nib to fit in this pen? I'd be happy to look in that direction too, especially if it might be cheaper than buying the kaweco replacement which amounts to a significant percentage of the cost of the entire pen.

I have many different Kaweco pens and while the nib units are not all transferable the nibs are. For example I have a Classic Sport with a 1.1mm nib but a Lilliput with an extra fine nib, the nib unit of the Lilliput unscrews but the Classics does not, although the nib unit of the Lilliput unscrews the nib itself is friction fit into the unit just like the Classic so all you do is pull them out and swap them around.

As far as other non-Kaweco nibs that will fit, I managed to get an FPR flex nib to fit my Classic Sport, I had to file down the back of the nib to make it fit but it did function well :)

This is exactly what I was hoping. I got the nib out of mine, just as you described. I love the pen, just not the M nib I ended up with. Now if only I could get an EF that didn't cost half the price, or more, of an entire new pen. Thanks so much for your response!

Cool! Any pics of the pen and/or writing sample? Would love to see.

What did you use for the filing?

Does anyone else know if a replacement Jowo or Bock #5 would fit this pen? Is it a matter of the nib fitting the feed? I'm only beginning to learn about this stuff, so thank you for your patience.

No problem :)

Here's the post I made describing how I did the flex modification : https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/250429-kaweco-ice-sport-with-modified-flex-nib/

I used a cheap, fine metal file, a Dremel would be far quicker but I don't have one. I think turning the pen into an eye drop filler would work better as the flex nib goes through loads of ink.

I'm not sure about whether a Jowo or Bock nibs would fit, Kaweco feeds fit their nibs very snugly so I would think most nibs might need a little tweaking to work.

Part of the fun for me is just having a go, pick up cheap vintage pens and swap nibs or compare and see if a little tweaking will make them fit, if a nib won't fit a Kaweco keep it because eventually you'll find a pen it will fit :)

Thanks for your response. You've given me some ideas. I love the look of that modded kaweco flex in your link. Very cool. Great pics of the lines you were able to achieve too. Now at least I know what can be done with this pen, and what the difficulties might be. That's a huge help. Thanks so much!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
