Conklin Endura OS (the thing's a freakin' shovel)

Delta 365 is big but the nib is a #6

Difference in length is quite small in case of Jowo #6 and #8, more in the width. But difference between #6 and #8 in terms of length is very apparent and big in bock.
8 refers to the diameter required of the section hole to accommodate the nib.

Commonly available #8 nibs are as follows:
Jowo (covers all their derivative pens)
Bock (covers all their derivative pens)
Pelikan m1000
MB 149
Pilot Custom Urushi
Sailor King of Pen
Montegrappa (I believe they are bock?)
Delta Roma Imperiale Oversize
Goldfink

GvFC Pen of the year is not #8. It's #6. GvFC does not use #8 nib on any of it's pens.
Classic pen Uses the KOP nibs so covered under Sailor King of pen.
Pilot #15 is #6 nor #8 and much smaller than MB 149 nib.

old post but thanks for clarifying the definition of size 8 nib

to my understanding nib sizes in EU (and also used in US) "refer to the diameter in millimeter required of the section hole to accommodate the nib"

the fact that the nib length or shape of shoulders may differ makes no difference to the size definition

a size 8 nib fits a size 8 mm hole, then it may not fit perfectly if the nib is too short or too long or the shoulders may be too wide and not fit in a given cap...

btw, some pens started off with a size 8 nib but then were redesigned to take a size 6

it's the case of the Bexley Prometheus (mentioned earlier in the thread by Fred, his Prometheus has a size 8, and a piston filler if I'm not wrong, my later Prometheus has a size 6 nib and a converter...

Conklin Model 50 Crescent.  Great writer and makes a good snow shovel.

Peerless Combo (mid 1930s).

Harris Flat Top from the mid 1920s.

I get the impression there are not many Size 8 nib options out there that aren't very expensive or vintage.  A Conid King Size is the only expensive option I'd willingly go for at this point in my FP journey of seriously diminishing returns as well as my limited attraction to bling, flare and/or stunning finishes.

I was initially not keen on a Sailor KOP because of the price with a C/C filling mechanism.  However, I may well reconsider.

Are there any relatively affordable options that come fitted with size 8 bock or Jowo nib??

I do not know of any steel (affordable?) nibs that are size 8, but there is a size 8 titanium nib in the cheaper version of the Bock 380 unit. If you send an email to Ranga pens, they might make you a large pen that is specially threaded for a Bock 380 unit.

I have a Bock 380 unit in my Ranga Splendour Torpedo pen.

I think some larger Airmail pens, from FPR, use number 8 nibs

In the context of size 8 nibs, my old Wality 69P pen has a small nib.  At FPR, the external section diameter is recorded as only 10 mm.  I wonder which Airmail pens are suspected of having size 8 nibs?
