Stray Esterbrook Threads

Recommended Posts

Since Cam suggested the idea, I thought I'd give it a place to grow. Should anyone come across an Esterbrook thread that appears to be suitable for relocation to the Esterbrook forum, why not post a link to it here, and we'll see about moving it.

Repair

The question re posts to the repair forum is whether they are better off there, or in the Estie Forum. That would depend on the post I guess. Any comments on the following?

Guest Denis Richard

Hi Gerry,

I think the repair threads should stay in the Repair forum for easy access.

Denis.

Edit : I moved the other threads :)

Now, let's just pick up those threads and get down to our sewing. ;)

Sure Maja, although we'll have to wait until Admin does it - I don't think our moderator powers extend to other fora, so while we can move posts in this forum, we can't get posts from other fora. <_<

The only one I would hesitate on is the first - since the eBay reference is expired the best part (the item itself) is no longer visible leaving the reader wondering what the discussion is all about.

Nevertheless, it is Esterbrook, and I suppose if it is going to be anywhere, it might as well be here, right?

So Denis - one more time perhaps?

Thanks,

Gerry

I was wondering about that first thread too, Gerry; I didn't check the Ebay link but I think after 'X' number of months, the auction disappears into the Internet ether!

Well, just keep on posting the little threads, and we'll move them all, I guess :D.

I've got an Estie too, btw, a red one... :D

Warmest regards, Wim

I *knew* you were one of us Wim.

Congratulations.

Maybe we should have voted for an Estie nib for the FPN LOGO... :D

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
