Although the quality control on the Pilot Petit pens seems to be a bit lacking, most of the ones that I own are very smooth and are quite comfortable when posted. It was a bit of a hassle acquiring each of the Pilot Petit pens due to the fact that several of them have been discontinued. I do really like these pens and the inks they come with, so I thought I'd share!

Here they are

The colors that have been discontinued are:

  • Violet
  • Cherry Pink
  • Mandarin Orange
  • Turquoise

The pens themselves are on their 3rd iteration as of this post.

I have some of the Baby Pink carts, which I use in a Pilot Prera instead. But man, I would totally buy a Turquoise and Cherry Pink one if they were still around!

I want the Turquoise so badly. I'm likely, soon, going to be buying one of each currently available. They're adorable and I feel like they'd be a perfect intro to modding pens- if I break one, I'm not gonna be angry about it.

I love the violet one. I have one of the old style Pilot Petit 1 pens that has a purple body and cap, but it did not have purple ink inside, and I've never found cartridges for it.

I recently bought one the apricot orange one, which is pretty, but it's useless because the ink is so light I don't know what I would do with it.

I bought a whole slew of the current line, and the apricot ink is pretty atrocious. I dumped the ink out of it and used an eyedropper to put my own ink into the cartridge. (I actually turned a bunch of these into eyedropper pens, but the threads are too shallow and wide-set.. The ink crept THROUGH the silicone grease I used, even storing them nib-up, and leaked into the cap. At least it didn't make a huge mess.)

I'm surprised they don't have a yellow one, or a brown one. Imagine having a nice sepia or chocolate brown ink inside a Pilot Petit with clear, warm brown accents.. It would be like writing with a truffle.

There is a Brown in the original Petit lineup... a nice darker brown too. Best of all the Petit1s :D

Lately been trying to refill using Waterman Havana Brown (too dark) or Pelikan 4001 Brown (too light) but it's not the same & they run drier :(

Next is eyeing the "sepia" in Pilot Parallel cartridges...

Thanks for sharing. My daughter tempts me with her Cherry pink pen and ink.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
