Glad to join this active, interesting group! I first became enamored of FPs about 20 years ago, when I bought my first Waterman (a Laureat) upon graduation from college. My passion was recently rekindled, and now that I have the means to buy them, I have begun to accumulate pens. I'm not a collector, not yet - I'm not entirely sure what I like/love (or am indifferent to), so I am sampling both new and vintage pens, and have about 20 now. I'm also looking forward to learning how to service older pens. And I *love* paper.

Hello and welcome. I am glad you have joined us. In your search for pens, be sure to consider the Esterbrook J. You can usually find a restored one for under $50. If you are serious about learning to work on fountain pens, the Esterbrooks are among the best on which to start. Please don't be shy about asking questions or stating your opinions. I hope you enjoy the time you spend with us.

Howdy jrobert6,

Welcome to the Fountain of pen, paper and ink knowledge. I understand, from a previous

post, that you have shops for our type of addiction near. That is great.

Enjoy the FPN.

Welcome, JRobert6 !

Soooooo, whatcha got ?  Which is your favorite writing pen ?

Thanks! My favorite - so far - for everyday writing is a Pilot/Namiki Vanishing Point. I'm building a small collection of Esterbrook "J"s on which to practice repairing/restoring.

Thanks - I appreciate the advice! I did pick up a few Esterbrook "J" pens, some of which are in need of light restoration (and a few of which are in need of a little more than just TLC). Before I try anything, I'm reading, obsessively. It's a good thing.
