The Final Formula For The Exact Amount Of Fountain Pens You Need To Have

Thier.

I think a better formula is n - 1. Where n = the number of pens that would cause your wife to demand a divorce on the spot and do terrible things to your pens.

Please call me Nathan. It is a pleasure to meet you.

'The Yo-Yo maneuver is very difficult to explain. It was first perfected by the well-known Chinese fighter pilot Yo-Yo Noritake. He also found it difficult to explain, being quite devoid of English.

So we left it at that. He showed us the maneuver after a sort. B*****d stole my kill.'

mhguda and GTOZack, thanks for the advice, so I'm taking plenty of sample vials and/or cartridges and n pens + 2.

If someday my wife has that kind if thinking, I'm ready to apply the same formula to her shoes ... N-1 .... SO, no trouble ;-)

Ah, some differentiation is needed:

The number of pens that are needed is N = 1, where N is the number needed and 1 is the requirement (unless you're into pencils).

On the other hand, the number of pens WANTED/DESIRED is N = X + D + H + C

Where N is the number of pens desired; X is the number of pens in hand; D is the next "Ooh, I want that"; H is the historical vintage pen you MUST rescue; and C is capitulation to the pen acquisition obsession (the One and True Answer, after all).

In other words, we want them all, but one is good, more is nice, a lot is a blessing.

Enjoy your pens!

It would have be at least 2 per day, otherwise you'd be suck with one colour for the whole day and as a person with only one pen (and one in the post) I know the pain of that. A second colour is necessary for highlighting work notes. ;)

But to be truly prepared one must remember that "two is one, and one is none", therefore the proper number is at least three per day.

Right! I always have three pens in my wallet. One filled in black, another in one or another blue and the third one in another colour (velvet today) .....

In the second tray, of course ..... Yes, I've been lucky to find two displays in an old pen shop . The shop keeper offered it to me .....

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
