Ok, I don't want this to sound like a personals ad, where some lonely female is looking for a "good time". But...

Wanted: One penal who loves to read and write long letters. Must be an openminded individual. Individual should be 18 or older and not squirm-ish with the use (verbal or written) of vulgar language. Interested individuals, can reply to this form.Thank you.

P.S. Individuals who live in the USA or in other parts of the world, may apply. No restrictions, as far as country apply.

That's a good question, and quite honestly I need to edit my original post. Thanks for the catch!

Well I know that there are several groups that put together sort of a penpal list, For example on Facebook in Virtual Pen Posse I'm in, we actually got a PenPal list put together for anyone who just wants one.

Though personally Geographically speaking, I wouldn't even care unless it's going to cost $10 to ship a letter to someone. It might actually be kind of interesting culturally speaking if the exchange was between folks not of the same nation.

What KBeezie said, we have a pen pal thread in the write stuff sub forum. I'm still looking for a few more pen pals myself. Read my bio over there if you wish Ayla

Like KB mentioned, I'm also part of the penpal list at Virtual Pen Posse. It's a cool group and another great way to meet even more pen enthusiasts! LOL

How can one be squirmish by that? I can see people being appalled by it though.

Also I don't think non-heavy letters cost much to ship to another country, sure they do get lost further from the starting point though.

From the US, international letters are $1.20, if under an ounce.

About 2x the domestic rate.

But still not expensive, as long as you don't have a LOT of international pen pals and don't write often.

I have 1 pen pal in Canada, and it isn't breaking my allowance to send my letters.

I will be looking for another 1 or 2 international pen pals soon.

I'm wondering what do you write in a pen pal message?

I do want to try it out but I have no idea where to start.

A sincere man am I
From the land where palm trees grow,
And I want before I die
My soul's verses to bestow.

All those moments will be lost in time.
Like tears in rain.
Time to die.

That is one way of scaring me of not trying it.

Well the scary part for me is that I tend to write print with fountain pens. And I tends to mix in cursive here and there.

I'm the same way plus my penmanship is atrocious. I would love to have a penpal but would almost feel sorry for inflicting my poor writing habits and penmanship on someone else.

I know this is an older post, but I joined the group on FB (well, I'm in pending status).

By the way, nice to see other FPN members from the Grand Rapids area, here I thought I was one of the only ones here... :)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
