Would be nice if they had pictures of it posted. I like the scrollwork and the cap, I just don't like them together, haha. Now I wonder how heavy it is?

I like it too, esp. the rounded cap, which is slightly diff. from the starwalker. though I can see why people don't like it. despite the clip and scrollwork clashing a bit it kind of works in a strange way. It looks understated, like it could have been a twig pulled from the forest.

Pros: Body looks like a regular 149 which I like a lot

Cons: Cap looks ugly with a horrible looking shape. Also the MB logo is so super tiny. Will have to see this in person to evaluate..

 

Might have to give this a miss. The last one that was worth getting so far was only the collodi imho..Even last year's Honore De Balzac was a disappointment with its strange curvature..

Fountain pens are like weapons. They just make your pocket bleed so much.

Some pens have a step down, including Nakayas. Never heard complaints about step downs from their owners.

 

Owners who hold pens on the sections are generally fine with them. I was graciously loaned a Nakaya last year & loved the BB nib but couldn't get on with my fingers hitting the threads. I freely admit my back on the body stance on a pen is unconventional.

Initial looks dont do it for me. As others have said maybe seeing / handling the pen my opinion will change.

For me the step down depend on the grith of the pen. For Starwalker it kind of bothers me but for Meissen it's totally fine.

Haa! I just wrote for about a half-hour with a Nakaya Long Piccolo, taking a little break, saw your comment. I said, "Oh. Does it have a step down?" I checked - and I guess it does. But I hold the pen very near the nib, so I guess I don't notice the step down at all.

 

As for this WE - at first glance, I thought, Oh (not the good "oh"), but then I looked closer. I like the scroll work. I prefer flat ends, but I think the scroll work works on this pen. I definitely would like to see it in person, hold it in my hands.

I really like the looks of this. It's quite different from recent WE pens. That feather clip is slick looking, even if it does rip off Delta a bit.

That step killed it for me.

Unless it looks better in the flesh so to speak, that step would kill it for me too.

 

What is it about Montblanc and steps down from barrel to grip? Can't they just make the grip a slightly bigger diameter?

I think the look could grow on me, but like others have pointed out-- that step looks to be a deal breaker. Maybe it won't be as bad as the photo suggests.

The step and the whole leaf type design and all...

 

 

This is not Mont Blanc type of styling this is too Italian style - Delta :/

The cap looks like a suppository put on the body.

 

An excellent reason to keep the cap when loaning you a pen.

Just bought this several days ago in Grand Cayman. I thinks it's called Starwalker midnight. I bought it because I liked the floating star. Other than that, there is nothing real impressive about this pen

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..
