Last Raffle Of The School Year

Newton Pens

Recommended Posts

This is the last raffle before graduation. 9 tickets already sold. I'm hoping to raise at least $6000 total to give away this year. Not sure who the recipients will be yet but we're getting closer. Huge thanks to everybody who volunteered to read essays and help pick the winners for the scholarships.

This month I'm offering one of my custom pens to the first pick winner, and a few Indian eyedroppers to the second pick winner.

The two donated pens are a Ratnamson 302 and a baby mini, both e/d fill.. The pen donated by me is a Camlin e/d.

Raffle will run from Monday April 28 until Sunday May 11, 2014.

If you have any questions please ask. If I forgot anything please let me know!

Visit http://www.newtonpens.com for all the details.

Thanks!

12 tickets sold! Woot!

I was just told that the light brown ripple ebonite Camlin pen I have offered above is a rare and out of production pen.

Here are some of the cool materials available if you win.

Amazing choice of materials Shawn. Can't wait to know the winners :)

You are right about the Camlin ED. The Camlin company, now Kokuyo Camlin, is no longer producing pens in ebonite. I have been contacting the distributors and retailers to get one without any success. The winner will be getting a rare pen.

It looks like we're at $5913 total so far! Wahoo!! That's so fantastic! Only a few more tickets to sell before tomorrow night and we'll reach that goal!

So close!

Raffle ends tomorrow night and the fund is at $5961 and I just received an email from an absolute saint who said that if I don’t meet my goal, he’d donate the money to help me reach it! I’m so incredibly grateful for this and all the other donations that have been given. You all have no idea what it means to me.

I can’t wait to announce these at graduation this year. I think there will be two or three given at Mountain Pine and a couple at other schools from around the state. I’m so excited about this!

I could actually use another volunteer or two to go over essays and help score them. ;)

Thanks so much everybody!

Congrats!

Who will win the batch of Indian pens?

#41!

Congrats to you, too!

Thank you all so much. I’ll post a video of the graduation ceremony as soon as I can.

Amazing! I'm #65 and obviously thrilled to have Shawn work on a custom pen for me, then getting it in my eager little hands!

And thrilled to be a small part of such a great project for students. Well done Shawn -- congrats to you on your efforts to raise all that scholarship money.

Does feel a little funny saying "thanks" for congrats on a blessing I just sort of wandered blindly into, but thanks!

I went to the Newton Pens site only a few months ago after someone glowing on FPN about Shawn's pens, got hooked and started paying attention to his work, then noticed the student/scholarship stuff and decided to pitch in a little and hey--maybe even win a pen. Well, here's my "maybe" up front and center. How cool is that? Guess I'll find out more and more how cool that is in days to come.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
