Hmm...seeing as me and this Shawn feller share a last name :P I think I need one of his pens.

 

Any current owners, what would you compare them to (if anything) writing wise?

 

And congrats on you're purchase! Post lots of pics when you get it

Typically Shawn used Jowo nibs tuned to perfection. He, more than anyone else I've seen, can make a Jowo sing. He will also put a nib on your pen that you provide. I recently did this with this pen:

Congrats, that's a fantastic looking pen! Really love that color combo. I think I like that size too - would you mind telling me the dimensions? You've got me considering getting a custom made pen now....

This one is .55" thick at the threads, about .60" thick at the barrel bulge, 5" opened...

Wow!!! I know that last year's New Mexico Pen Club pen was a Newton (unfortunately I didn't get to partake), and that all of the members were in love with the pen.

 

Maybe one of the other members will chime in....

I have an Alien Snot Short pen which was the NMPCC Pen for 2013. I also saw an Orange Duofold like Acrylic blank and asked Shawn to make me a Faux Piccolo w/o a clip. He did that and cut the steel nib to be an XXF line width. Perfect work and one of my most favorite pens/writers. You'll love what you're going to get.

Here is one of my two Newton Pen's.....This one is the New Mexico Pen Collector's Club Pen for 2013 1 of 15 I believe. We also have one extra one to sell......so if you like it PM me! Shawn di an incredible job for me and my Club on these pens......He even put threads on the back end of the barrel so that when you post it, it screws on :-)

 

I liked this one so much that I ordered another one in the same size called "Taffy", if I find a pic, I'll post it here.....

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
