My Pilot Metropolitan arrived and it writes so smoothly and effortlessly. So far I'm loving this one best out of the bunch.

My Lamy Safari arrived first and I thought I loved it until I tried the Pilot Metro. The Safari was writing nicely last week, but now it is a dry writer. :( I really want to love this pen so I can justify picking up a Lamy Al-Star with EF nib, but now that the Safari (with F nib) is writing dry, I'm thinking an EF nib isn't for me.

 

The Pilot Vector writes OK also, but the pen feels too lightweight to me.

The Pelikano I picked up for my daughter is a nice wet writer. I like it! The only issue I have is with the grip. I have an urge to rotate the pen just a little bit more toward me (rotating the shiny top part of the nib toward me, rather than away from me). It is the same with the Safari, however to a lesser degree. Maybe I just hold my regular round-grip pens in a weird way.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
