Toucan (Australian) Ink Group Buy?... Gauging Interest

Is this a girl's Friday night slumber party?

My pen club met tonight and want me to bring a color chart of the Toucan ink to the next meeting. I told them the ship will have already left the dock by then. They have suggested I write a book about ink.

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.

@Cyber6

Your black sample looks BLACK.

The sample from bleair looked dark gray.

Now I'm confused.

I just cancelled the black ink because I thought it was dark gray. Maybe I have to do another order to put it back in.

Although I might put in an order for black to use as a mix with the crimson to try to get a red-black.

I'd characterise the black as an almost-black, a really dark grey, not a pitch black. The thicker you lay it, the darker it gets...

If you notice.. I tend to favor wet nibs. So, in a wet nib.. on TOMOE RIVER... Yep, it would look quite black.

On more absorbent paper, it will look like a dark grey. (The swab is a good example)

I don't use black much, but I guess this black is good for mixing to get darker colors. Go for the black.

Hey, you are the coordinator, you can extend it if you want.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

OH, but you won't let us try out your best PEN even if he has the BEST nib and write QUITE well. We all know, it's not a good idea to loan out your favorite pen, the nibs can get bent.

Yes they can.... but I assure you. My BEST nib is never bent..... Though it does have just the right amount of flex, to get ink exactly where I want it.....

As soon as I stop laughing, I'll try and figure out an (in)appropriate response.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
