This is a quick comparison of the blue inks I currently own. It's nothing fancy not a full test, but I hope it is still amusing :)

I also made a quick test of the water resistance... But then again it's just a quick test... Extensive reviews of the inks will be posted soon.

I like all the blues posted. Some are more smooth, some are dry some are wet, but that's all for a more extensive review...

It is not completely fair to compare the water resistance of the De Atramentis inks with the other inksin the review. The De Atrmanentis inks are document inks for

doctors, lawyers and the notary for example... they are bombproof. Still these inks are blue so they are in the comparison...

I love vivid vibrant blue inks.... (although I like other blues and colours too off course)....J Herbin has lovely inks but there Bleu Azure is or Perchevance is too much...

I would love to get any ddvice on a nice vibrant blue which still can be used at work. I really love De Atramentis  , but simply name me your favourite blue ink (of any Brand) I am curious already to hear about your favourite blues(s)

Thank you and enjoy :excl:

Kindest regards,

Peter

I've tested lots of DA blues. I really like Giuseppe Verdi and Steel Blue. Neither are very bright, but both are very nice. For brighter blues, I love Diamine Asa Blue and Noodler's Navajo Turquoise. I think I remember you saying in another thread that you need to use permanent inks at work, though. If that is the case, you should check out Rohrer & Klingner Scalix, Noodler's Bad Belted Kingfisher and Noodler's Bad Blue Heron.

Nice work, are the DA iron gall?

No they are not iron gall.

De Atramentis offers Iron Gall inks though.

Here is a Link http://www.de-atramentis.com/Calligraphy-/Historic-Inks-/Irongall-Ink-.html

D-A Expcitely warns you NOT tou use these inks in Fountain Pens

For official documents D-A offers you their Document inks

http://www.de-atramentis.com/document-ink-/?XTCsid=20b60c70e02251bfd96617d4a688bcdd

They also have some very nice historical inks

The Document inks are perfectly safe for use in Fountain pens. I use them at work for my official documents....

as promised I will do a review of these inks soon... :)

Hope this was Helpful to you

Kind regards,

I actually like a number of the inks you have on your list - I have Quink Blue (which not only washes away but fades BADLY over time), Waterman Serenity Blue and Pelikan Royal Blue - all striking, strong blues that are a pleasure to see on the page. For sheer brilliance and vibrancy, you can't go past Noodler's Baystate Blue - but it comes with some significant downsides in terms of the damage it can cause to pens, paper, clothes etc!

I also have a bottle of Noodler's Liberty's Elysium, which is a much better behaved ink than its Baystate stable-mate, and is 'semi-bulletproof' into the bargain - oh, and it's yet another striking (yet suitably conservative) blue that you could certainly use in the workplace. I'm also a fan of Noodler's 54th Massachussetts, but that's more of a blue-black (with a faint tinge of green, it seems to me!).

That's about my 2c worth for now - I'm sure there are other great blues out there, but I'm fairly happy with the 5 or 6 I already have in my possession. I'm always happy to find out about water resistant inks, though - comes in very handy when you're prone to smear and smudge your written work!

I'm using Diamine Sapphire Blue and Sailor Ultramarine in most of my pens at the moment. They're both brilliant - in more ways than one!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
