Ladies and gentlemen.

1: This topic is in "the write stuff". AFAIK that is meant for original texts. Copying existent text in calligraphy should be under one of the calligraphy forums.

2: Religion and politics are forbidden subjects because of their controversial nature. We DO realise a lot of calligraphy is done by copying religious or politcal texts in a beautiful script all over the world. Because of that, we allow a moderate amount of religious (etc) texts in the calligraphy forums, but not elsewhere.

3: Apart from that portraying religious (etc) texts of whatever origin under the label "gibberish" is offensive/derogatory.

I have removed the religious texts in this topic.

I used my vintage 1950's Sheaffer Touchdown Statesman, with a fine semi-flexible two-tone nib.

The ink is Waterman Mysterious Blue (Blue/Black), on Staples Sustainable Earth bagasse paper.

(Someone not so into fountain pens, ink and/or paper might say to him/herself, " None of that makes any sense to me, and...neither does this.")

As some posters apparently do not seem to heed the highlighted remark I edited the title.

To the moderators: Please remove my previous posts from this thread. I posted gibberish. And I put time and thought into the selection of the gibberish. Good, instructive (as a negative example) gibberish can't be found just lying about anywhere. One could not possibly find quotable gibberish by reaching out and grabbing what was close to hand. I would not have posted my quotations in any thread that suggested there was anything random about them.

I love the smell of fountain pen ink in the morning.

OMD! I absolutely love this (the 3 part message in its totality)! Both my husband (Zwack) and I had a good laugh :-). And, before that, we both commented on your lovely Italic (?) calligraphic handwriting. I used to do that, but never anywhere nearly as nice as you do!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
