I just looked into buying some stuff at gouletpens and i ended up with 1 4.5 oz noodlers, a 3oz noodlers and a twsbi 580 all for around £60 shipped, this is a great deal! Does anyone from the uk have experience of ordering with gouletpens? I know they are known for their great service

I used them once & they were fine. I've since found alternative suppliers more locally as I don't like taking the risk that the parcels will get stopped by customs & I'll get whacked with the import VAT & admin fees.

For the same reason as migo984 I have only ordered from them once - I try to find what I want more locally.

Good experience though - no problems. I would order again were it not for the custom charges etc.

I'm located in Germany but I've ordered from them and haven't had any problems. They really do pack everything with a "slightly ridiculous amount of care" and the package got here really fast. I chose a cheap shipping option but I was still able to track it until it got to the German customs office. All in all, the package took about 3 weeks to get here even with all the post-christmas and new year's craziness the mail carriers had to deal with. Very good experience.

I've used them loads of times when I couldn't source stuff in the EU and will use them again as they were speedy delivered and items really well packaged. Great service.

However, all my purchases were low cost and came in under the customs radar price. HM Customs are merciless.

I've mainly ordered single bottles of Noodler's ink from them. Not economic for the shipping but extremely unlikely to incur any UK VAT or other charges. Great service.

My experience as well shipping to Ireland. You can deal with the Goulets with confidence, just worry about Customs.

I've read only good about the Goulets but the Russian roulette of UK customs keeps putting me off as nearly every saving could be eaten by the tax which means ordering from the UK when possible is often the same price. The cheaper items they sell would fall below the tax threshold but then the post costs more than the pen :( I think I need to have a holiday in the states and have some stuff sent to the hotel :P

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
