If you're me, you use boring old #10 business envelopes from Office Depot. *blush* I can't figure out where to get nice stationery locally (as opposed to having to order it online).

I have been using airmail envelopes such as basildon bond as they suit the idea of the paper and look nice or the chic G.Lalo envelopes but welcome any more fitting suggestions!

Wish list: Aurora Optima

Current inked Pens: Pilot Decimo - Noodlers BBH, MB Mozart - MB Lavender

Pelikan M150 - Noodlers Kung te Cheng

I like to make my own envelopes check craft store or internet shops for a We R Memory Keepers envelope punch. You might want a paper trimmer too. They have some that are about $20 I have a fiskars one I think. You'll be an envelope making machine!

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate the information. I hate to admit it, but my first letter did go out in an old #10 security envelope. Thanks for the heads up on the envelope punch.

I was introduced to TR paper by member Penhand a cople years ago. Once I started using this I was hooked and quicky had the same question and asked hs advice. He turned me on to a great product/supplier and I boght a bunch of grat envelopes in two sizes.

Wish I could remember the details, but email him, he might be able to help.

Life Brand (Japanese) air-mail envelopes.

If I want to write a really long letter (many pages) to my relatives in Europe I like to use the thin Tomoe River paper that I sourced at Wonderpens in Toronto. The TR A4 sheets fit perfectly into the Life size #4 envelopes.

I use Neenah Classic Crest Natural White envelopes -- available in 100's from envelopemall.com

I like both the No 10 with flap and the A6

The envelopes are not an exact match, but are off-white, well made and a nice contrast. They identially match the Classic Crest stationary from Neenah (obviously) which I also use on occasion.

I get a light pink "parchment" envelope in #10 size from JAM. It's fountain pen friendly and everybody know pink envelopes are from me.

They do absorb ink a bit so you won't get your sheen and SUPER wet writing feathers a TINY bit.

For Tomoe River paper, I like to use the Wausau White Gold Metallic envelopes that Amberleadavis reviewed. The envelopes are heavier than the Tomoe River Paper, but the shimmer complements the paper.

Sadly those are being discontinued, according to the seller Blendz Paper. I placed an order for 450-500 of the white gold metallic envelopes to stock up before they're all gone. Can't beat the price of $23 shipped on such gorgeous envelopes.

Gotta admit it -- I'm boring. Ordinary white self-seal envelops from Walmart.

Until you ink a pen, it is merely a pretty stick. --UK Mike

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
