Stipula Passaporto Clear On Ebay

Recommended Posts

Came across this great sounding deal for a clear demonstrator Stipula Passaporto, medium nib.

I couldn't help but jump on it with a price tag of $29.40!

Haven't bought from this seller myself yet, so I cannot testify as to the quality of the pen since I don't have it yet. Seller has been very good on communication, minutes after paying he left great feedback, so he seems to be good on communication.

Currently a 30% off deal! according to the 'bay there are two more left, sale ends in 18 hours.

Buy it now link:

Hope this helps someone, haven't participated in the market watch before, hope I got it right.

Can't wait to get my Stipula, have been eying it for months! Excitement....

I have been wanting a Passaporto for a while, too, but couldn't justify the prices that are out there - anywhere from $60-$80 on eBay, $60 plus shipping on isellpens (when they were in stock,) $70-80 on Amazon, $82 - plus $35 shipping :o - for the FPN limited edition. So I read your post, clicked on the link, and that was all it took. My Passaporto is on its way to me, should be here on Thursday. :D

I came late to the party so I missed the price you posted in June, but not by much. The sale is 20% off now instead of 30% off, $33.60 with free shipping. It is still a bargain. As you noted, only medium nibs are available, not necessarily my preference, but the nice price for this generally well-received pocket pen persuaded me. The item now shows 68 sold with 10 available so he/she obviously got more stock in.

I hope you received your Passaporto and that you like it, Loeschpapier, and I thank you for posting this heads up for the rest of us.

Ah. You saved money, BUT, you could have gotten one of the authentic FPN Passoportos from the FPN store. Still some left. Passoportos are great pens. I especially like the Italic nibs. I also would recommend setting them up as an Eyedropper. The tiny cartridge does not hold much ink, but as an eyedropper, it will hold more than most pens.

lol - well Dave, I don't have a lot of money to spend on pens. If money were no object, buying from the FPN store would be a no-brainer, but, unfortunately, that is not the case. The FPN Limited Edition would have cost $117 with shipping; I paid $33.60 with shipping. As much as I would prefer to support FPN, I don't - and didn't - have a spare $117. Instead, I saved $83.40 over that price and will be getting an authentic Stipula Passaporto, too. True, as I indicated, I would have preferred a choice of nibs, but I really couldn't pass up the chance of getting a Passaporto at this price. I am hoping I won't be disappointed. :)

I understand. The FPN Limited Edition pens were cheaper when we first ordered them. The ones that are still left not only have the cool custom design (materials and engraving including FPN logo and number), but also include tuning by a famous nib-meister; namely Wim, the major-domo of FPN.

Another advantage for the FPN version of the Passaporto is that it has threads on the end of the barrel for posting. Most other versions of the Passaporto lack these threads and the cap does not stay posted very well. Such a short pen really needs to be used posted, so the threads are a major convenience.

All good points in favor of the FPN Passaporto, but that still doesn't explain why the shipping charge is so exorbitant (I have sent and received packages from Europe that are much larger and heavier than a package containing a Stipula Passaporto would be and have never paid anything near $35 for shipping. Just sayin'!) And it's a moot point anyway, since I don't have the money for the pen itself even without the shipping charge. :(

I have read about the posting difficulties people have had with the Passaporto with the unthreaded barrel; I have also read that giving the cap a slight twist after posting it does secure the cap. I have to do this with my Lamy 2000, too, and it works (had to read up on that after the cap of my Lamy decided to spring off of the end of the barrel and fly across the room while I was writing with the pen shortly after receiving it, lol,) so I am hoping it will work with the Passaporto, too. Guess I will find out!

that was a gresat price. I got one from this seller a few months back for $38. came without box. I guess this seller is buying in bulk. Listing says more than 10 available. for $29 I would have bought more than 1, but even at $42 it's still a bargin.

Just a quick update. I did receive my Passaporto; as mentioned, there was no Stipula pen box, no warranty/info papers, the pen and eyedropper were wrapped in a piece of paper, no other protection; at least they were sent in a sturdy box and the pen/eyedropper arrived unharmed.

The pen WILL post; you have to place the cap on the barrel firmly and give it a slight twist, but then the cap stays on and doesn't wiggle off. I don't like the nib, however. At. All. I was forewarned by the experiences of others that have reviewed the pen that the Stipula nibs - at least on this model - are dry; now I know what they mean. Very little flow, unpleasant to write with. I soaked the section in some soapy water as well as flushing it with an ear bulb before even filling the pen, but this made no difference. I also tried flossing the nib with a metal shim, still no improvement.

I am going to try to remove the nib and feed, give the feed a good scrub, as well as flossing the nib again - should be a lot easier without the feed being in the way - in hopes of improving the flow. Others have been successful with this and report that, after taking these steps, that they came to really like the nib, so I remain hopeful.

By the way, the ink I used was J. Herbin Lierre Sauvage; this ink is generally reviewed as being a well-behaved, good flowing, maybe even wet, ink, so I don't THINK the problem is with the ink, but I will try a different ink if the nib remains too dry even after I have done my minor nib 'work.'

Kind of glad I didn't pay $117 for a similar experience - and yes, the same "too dry" complaints were made about the FPN LE pen nibs. I hope I don't end up regretting having spent even $33+ on it.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
