What Would You Like To See Lamy Do?

So Lamy puts out a new color each year but we do not see much in the new product category. What would you like to see them do? The German capless pen or a new piston filler?

I would like to see a Vista piston filler or vacuum filler. I like the look and the ability to change nibs. I would like extra ink capacity.

What do you mean: The German Capless pen?

Another Safari color with the same texture as the Charcoal (perhaps a reissue of the Terracotta or Savanna Green :yikes: )

You know I was thinking about that as I wrote it, for some reason I didn't make the connection.

I would also enjoy more non-shiny pens in the Safari line... And, this is so trivial, but I hate the Al-Star because it doesn't have exactly the same shape as the Safari. Right above the ink window, on the Safari, the body goes back to being round, but on the Al-Star it remains flat on two sides so that there's a little gap between the body and cap. It drives me absolutely crazy and thus will probably prevent me from buying any more Al-Stars.

Hmm, I'd personally love something different to be released, something along the lines of the Lamy Persona. They have a lot of utilitarian workhorses, but perhaps a bit of ostentatiousness wouldn't be amiss :P

Widen distribution of the Scala. I've not seen it offered anywhere in the USA. Also, provide an alternative to the chrome grip on that model, like they have with the Studio.

I've been wanting to get a Lamy 2000, but I have tested at least 3 of them, and their caps consistently wobble along with the clip being strangely loose. So, if I actually found a solid Lamy 2000 without having to pay upwards of $300 that would be nice, since the only one I've tested and seen to work was the

Stainless Steel version.

This is a topic I've given some thought to before, so I'm glad you've started this thread! I'd love to see a large sized, ergonomic vacuum filler made of titanium. I'd love to see Lamy's take on such a pen.

I would like to see a slimmer version of the 2000.

To me the 2000 is FAT, and a slightly uncomfortable hold because it is FAT.

Some of us like slimline pens.

I would like to see atleast one Lamy with a traditionally shaped and constructed open nib. The nib must not be folded over the feed to hold it in place, which is the approach used on 100% of modern Lamy pens....

Why do you want that kind of a nib on a Lamy?

Seriously? I'd like to see them reissue the Lamy 27. OK, now you can get back to discussing things that have at least some basis in reality. :D

YES! That would be great. Love that texture, rather than the smooth type.

I would like smoother nibs and an extra size (something like EEF)

I would also like the body of the Al-Star to be *exactly* the same as the Safari's.

(Al-Star is a bit bulkier than the Safari and although I LOVE the nice aluminum finishes, I cannot bring myself to buy one)

Alternatives to the shiny, slippery Studio sections. Probably a brushed type finish.

What about a new LE line based on their vintage pens? This would give the collectors something drool-worthy and maybe shift their interest away from the MB/Pelikan LE series...for a little while, anyway.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
