Not Sure If About This Mb Auction

First, take a look at this auction on eBay. Ignoring the fact that the seller is using erfobay's pictures, the fact that s/he's selling an MB 139 (as well as a MB 129 L, an extremely rare 'pregnant' Parker and a Waterman overlay FP) w/in a 24-hour period along w/old drumsets, stuffed animals, binoculars, etc., makes me wonder whether this is:

- a scam or account hijacking?

(If so, I don't see the usual tip-offs of separate email, alternative payment instructions, etc.)

- a person who's lucky but is utterly clueless about FPs?

(yes, they exist...see definition of Sumgai)

What do you think?

EDIT: fixed errors

Well....indeed, the entire auction, seller and photos seem dubious.

In the end, it all boils down to one question: Do you feel lucky(and if so, how lucky?).

LOL - your comment made me think of the movie "Dirty Harry" (I can just see Clint Eastwood saying "Do you feel lucky, punk? Well...do ya?!?")

The way the pens are being sold (who sells rare, high-end pens along with tons of stuff that looks like it didn't sell in this year's garage sale?) makes me think it's a scam and should be reported. At the same time, I don't see any evidence that this IS a scam and so am reluctant to pull the trigger and report it. Anybody know if this is a new scamming tactic?

This appears to be the hijacking of a genuine site. This approach has been tried many times in the past.I am betting that if you go for the buy it now price of $2500 they will ask you to wire or pay into an account probably in London as their is a problem with their Paypal account.Avoid & only buy from a reputable dealer.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
