Twsbi Diamond 580 (Black And Rose Gold)

I think I need one of everything. ;)

I have a 1.5mm stub on my other clear 580 and I would say the B Stub-Italic is a bit over half the width, probably about 0.9-1.0mm. It's just a bit thinner (0.1 or 0.2mm) than my 1.1mm stub on my Vac 700. Sorry, no pictures since I don't have a decent camera right now.

I'm really not sure about exact line widths since I can't really measure them well, no calipers or anything.

Welcome aboard!!

One of the forums has a download where you can compare nib sizes. I'll see if I can find it.

Meanwhile, hopefully this will help.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Ah, thanks!

Here is the way to tell the size of the nib. I'm still looking for the link. This was just my pens.

I am learning a LOT in this thread. Add my thanks for the amazing resources! Haha, it's amazing what you can turn up with proper research :P

I'm buying my 580 today (probably just the regular clear version, methinks), and now it looks like I'm getting the 1.5 stub! It seems like a fun nib to play with :)

Do post photos when it arrives. I just received my Poussière de Lune today, which I purchased after I had a look after you mentioned it and I just adore it. I inked up my 580 immediately and wow. Perfection.

I'm thinking I'll be the only parent using a TWSBI filled with Poussière de Lune (and writing in a Hobonichi Techo) at tonight's meeting for parents whose kids are involved in the drama club's musical this spring.

Haha, glad to have been of help! As for me, I'm delaying my purchase a bit since the clerk at the store I frequent had apparently quoted the price for the non-stubbed nibs when I inquired as to how much the pen would set me back (I only carry what money I know I'll spend plus a bit extra for emergencies when going out). But I walked out with a bottle of Rouge Hematite, so I'm not too sad about the fact that I was a few hundred pesos short :P

Cheers!

Haha, it's one of mine now, as well. I have to say, though, as lovely an ink as it is, I don't recommend using it in a pen that you can't fully take apart or one you particularly treasure, and have to say that it's an outright dumb idea to keep it in a pen for long term storage! The gold pigments make loading this ink into my Sailor a bit nervous, but seeing as it's the only pen wet enough to make full use of the characteristics of the ink, I can't say that I have much else in the way of alternatives, aside from getting a cheap firehose nib to use exclusively with Rouge Hematite :P

I agree wholeheartedly. The 1.5 mm nib in my Lamy Safari wasn't fully seated and I noticed sediment from the Rouge Hematite collecting around the base where the nib and feed meet.

Also, it will stain! Unfortunately, the only inks I will load in my Platinum Koi 3776 are orange based as I've seen a Koi with staining and I don't want to look into removing ink stains from celluloid, if that can even be accomplished.

Now I'm worried! Haha, I'm glad I was able to safely disassemble and put my 1911 back together again! I may or may not load it up with RH, depending on my mood, but I'll be sure to clean & flush within 24 hours, haha.

My soon to be 580 is gonna be my dedicated Hematite pen, methinks. I've asked around and heard no problems with staining whatsoever, with regular use. Clear demo with Blood Red and Gold ink. Yeah.

Oh, I wouldn't worry. As long as you flush your pen(s) thoroughly, I don't think there will be a problem. I'm sure the Rouge Hematite will look lovely in the 580's chamber.

I'm sure it would, haha. But then again, I'm reconsidering the 580 and maybe getting a TWSBI Mini instead. I don't really need the added ink capacity, and I get the feeling that, given less time to sit in the ink chamber, the ink is less likely to leave a stain.

... But I honestly prefer the looks of the 580. At the same time, I'm one of those types who can'y help but post my pens. The 580 handled better when I tried the both out in-store, while I actually do need a shorter pocket pen... Dangit :|

.

Haha, cheers.

Just for reference, I've had yama-budo and Poussière de Lune in the 580 and the chamber remains clear and clean with no visible residue after a flushing.

I know the 580 isn't meant to be posted and when I do post it, it feels as if I'm holding a long unwieldy stick.

I have a TWSBI Mini F and am having the hardest time deciding which nib size to choose for my next purchase. I feel like there's not too big of a difference between the EF and the F, but I'm a little apprehensive of going up to M or B.

I've looked at a lot of comparisons online and am just even more confused now.

I can provide a writing sample with the medium nib, if you'd like.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
