Twsbi Diamond 580 (Black And Rose Gold)

Perhaps the rose gold plating was improperly applied. That could very well have been the case.

If you really want to get serious, you could buy some litmus paper and test your pH. It might be a matter of adding more foods that are alkaline in nature to your diet to combat high levels of acidity. I say this all in jest! How far will we go for our pens? ;)

i eat to much protein, that is the problem!

I'm glad that it writes well.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Nice looking pen...write and enjoy! All I got was a sweater but then it's been close to 20 below in Toledo. I think Goulets might have a RG Mini with my name on it soon.

Ed, it was -29 F here today with the wind chill. I'll take a sweater over a pen. ;)

Seriously, is the TWSBI black and rose gold being issued as a mini? What is the size comparison?

Stay warm, my friend!

An RG Mini would be very high on my 'Next Buy' list. I've not seen any reference to one being in the pipeline on the TWSBI Facebook page or anywhere else though.

Betweenthelens your photo is so beautiful it completely made my mind up for me (I've been considering buying one) and I've just bought a rose gold one

I'm in awe of the photography in play here. I mean, it's a nice pen, sure, but this looks much better than the mugshots some retailers' sites put up. I'm not a fan of rose gold, really (I like the looks of plain old yellow, thanks very much), but this is making me reconsider, haha. Then again, seeing that barrel full of YB must've helped change my opinion, haha. I wonder if my Poussiere de Lune would look as good in a demonstrator?

Out of curiosity, what camera did you use to take those photos?

P.S.

Best wishes with the new pen and ink! Have fun with them!

Bass Culture, you're not the first person I've heard say this. Sounds like it would sell just by virtue of everyone who has expressed a desire for it to be manufactured as a mini.

PrettyPink, I love your AV photo- beautiful- and your lovely tiara. Thank you for the kudos. The pen is really lovely in person, too, and I hope you enjoy yours. Please tell all about it when it arrives!

Thank you very much, Lyander. When I photograph anything, I attempt to show how the object or person truly looks to me and I am happy the beauty of the pen came across to you as well as to the other kind thread respondents. I'd not seen Poussière de Lune until you'd mentioned it and it is positively scrumptious! Yes, I do believe it would look luscious sliding around in the barrel. I used a Canon Rebel (450D) for these photos.

Betweenthelens - thank-you for the lovely compliment :) and the tiara was for a tiara, tutu and fairy wings party lol. I will let you know what I think to the pen when it arrives (I've already decided which ink to put in - Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku)

Haha, I think you pretty much just described what all photographers aspire for. Wishing you the best of luck with your endeavoursin both fountain pendom and photography!

Also, nice camera, haha. You seem to be getting good use out of it. Stock lens? And yeah, PdL is a great ink to stare at XD

You're welcome, prettypink. What fun- a tiara, tutu and fairy wings party! It might be fun to have such a party, aside from Halloween, where these things are de rigueur. Ku-jaku will look lovely in the pen. I can't imagine an ink that wouldn't look stunning through the clear chamber. Those that contrast the most are the most eye-catching as I don't think a black ink would do the pen justice.

Lyander, the lens is a 100mm macro.

So glad! If you get the chance, post some photos, please!

My Twsbi arrived today and I love it. Even with an extra fine nib it's such a smooth writer :)

Seconded! There's no such thing as enough photos of a demonstrator FP loaded with awesome ink! :))

I am tempted to try that nib. I do love my medium, though. I bought a 1.5 mm for my Lamy Safari and that is nice but very broad. I wonder how your broad stub-italic and the 1.5 mm compare.

I ordered a 580 RG from Pendleton with a Broad Stub-Italic and it's fantastic. The pen looks amazing as well.

I just purchased a clear 580. I love it and it is filled with Yama Budo too. It is my new favorite ink. Great pen, great ink!

Is your nib a medium? I'm interested in seeing the Yama-budo when used with a TWSBI fine nib and/or a broad nib.

I have a 1.5mm stub on my other clear 580 and I would say the B Stub-Italic is a bit over half the width, probably about 0.9-1.0mm. It's just a bit thinner (0.1 or 0.2mm) than my 1.1mm stub on my Vac 700. Sorry, no pictures since I don't have a decent camera right now.

I'm really not sure about exact line widths since I can't really measure them well, no calipers or anything.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
