Nice one Force.

Alas in the last nib-pic the tip is half hidden.

The cart is a Lamy.

Could you just put some varnish on the tarnished ring?

I am taking new pics with both pens together and will include the nibs. The working side of the broad is nice and clean.

I can buy a complete new grip for £70 from someone on tinternet and it would still be good value. I have also put a Wanted in the Classifieds....in case I can pick one up cheaper.

Thanks for cart info.

Harli Twin....possibly just 1cc. I have a new ring section on the way from another FPN member which will tidy up the latest purchase.

After a couple of days soaking in water, a good constant pull and waggle popped the nib and feed out then the block insert unscrewed with ease.

Prior to the disaasembly it was cleaned in my ultrasonic bath where very little ink emitted.

I would have expected to see more, clogged, ink in the vanes but there is none. Maybe it has had very little use or been cleaned at some time.

I await now the new block.

I have had another closer look at my Opera and definitely cannot see any serial number between the gold bands on the cap...Is it possible that not every pen carried a serial number...???

I have had this on my Watch list for 10 days and it has just finished at £59 delivered.

fpn_1397410600__man_100_59.jpg

Very little description to go on, it could be a 100 or 200. No questions & answers displayed.

I asked a few Q's where the seller said used twice then boxed....oh he/she also said smooth black gloss finish on barrel and cap.....oh and fins on black plastic thingy under nib.

Ahhhh defintely a Man 100 then, possibly mint, boxed.

That's £11 less than this Phileas....It's a #@*%$£ odd world. See peps are getting distracted.....GREAT.

Not mint though VG but yet another with ring corrosion. The box is a mess. Not sure why 2 booklets.

I now have a dilemma,

Which nib to go with which pen should I consider selling.

Is a Harlequin more desirable with a Medium or a Broad. It arrived with the Broad (looks good) but the Gloss pen I have just purchased has a nice Medium.

Have had a closer look at my opera under magnification and YES....it does have a number. It is 34229. I purchased the pen new in 1991.

i never liked watermans until i saw this harlequin Oh my god.

Force takes such beautiful pictures. They are a real inducement to experience Waterman. When I think of all those years when I only looked at Waterman pens in a Fahrney's catalog, I realize I should have tried one back in the day, before I got too old to appreciate using one day to day. This harlequin is so beautiful, and Force's pics bring the beauty of it to you.

Just seeing this thread. My Arlequin is # 3565, though one of my Operas is # 23926. Interesting that they made so many more of the Operas than Arlequins. Both great pens!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
