No, that's not the 2014 annual colour. Pink was the annual colour for 2009 which was re-introduced for a period in 2010 due to demand. A revised pink Safari (black cap end, not pink like the original) was launched in some export markets last year but as of this month (January 2014) it is now a standard catalogue colour.

Lamy has not revealed its 2014 Safari colour yet. Source: Lamy sales employees (who didn't know either).

That looks like the 2013 pink special with black x cap

I just received an email from The Coln Gallery... and apparently the new Safari is pink. The email calls it 2014 pink.

Which I find exceedingly puzzling.

Not related to Coln gallery in any way...

This is the only 2014 link/picture on entire world wide web! :)

People were crying out for a purple one ... I better go and get me another neon yellow before they sell out!

Assuming (and hoping) that they are keeping the LE colour a big secret and there is an awesome LE colour soon to be announced :D

Are the current Neon Yellow and Pink ones going to be discontinued when the new one is announced?

Neon Yellow was the annual colour for 2013 so is now discontinued*. Therefore, any pens you see still available for sale will only be available while stocks last.

The current pink Safari (see link1 & link2) was launched in some export markets last year (2013) but is now in the current (printed) catalogue so it can no longer be considered a "special" anything.

* models released as annual colours (aka special editions) do sometimes come back into production.

I like the idea of brown tones, as well as purple. I expect Pantone's color of the year announcement comes later than Lamy production. But if you go by Pantone and color of the year 2014 Wild Orchid, then purple-like tones would have the nod. But timing and all....

I'm happy I got an aquamarine Safari on eBay from Japan, but the color was not what I expected. I took a photo, and got the lighter color that was shown on the web. But it's a darker color that photos show.

Brown, purple or cream would be great, as would a nod to the orange and green of early Safaris. Those look so awesome cool.

The Paperworld show started tomorrow. Anyone on FPN attending it? If so could you please tell us about the new color?

Is it fair for an intelligent and family oriented mammal to be separated from his/her family and spend his/her life starved in a concrete jail?

I'd be hoping for something matte and subdued. Adobe, sage, cappuccino....

On Lamy's Germany website (they translated it in English for the international fans), the Safari and the All Star are listed under young writing.

The All Star has the more subdued and sophisticated colors like purple and pearl.

Still can't wait for the new color! So much so that I realized that I wrote "started tomorrow" instead of yesterday, when I posted about the Paperworld show.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
