Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

So, you're suggesting all these inks?

The liberty of the press is indeed essential to the nature of a free state; but this consists in laying no previous restraints upon publications, and not in freedom from censure for criminal matter when published. Every freeman has an undoubted right to lay what sentiments he pleases before the public; to forbid this, is to destroy the freedom of the press; but if he publishes what is improper, mischievous or illegal, he must take the consequence of his own temerity. The real reason for all the posts is to show the various colors that the other FPNers have recommended. The samples are from the current fade test and were supplied by members of our community.

I'm glad it helps. The "stash" has been decades in the inking. My advice would be to start with a color group (Blue / Green / Pink / Purple / Orange) and ask members what they like. Read some reviews. On a budget, my best purchases were the Noodler's eel inks. The colors are vey vibrant, the inks were good to my pens and years later, I still like them.

Iroshizuku fuchsia, persimmon, or grass green are definite fun colors, and easy to clean up in evey perm in which I've tried them.

Diamine Florida Blue. You can't be faulted for writing in blue ink, but this is one that's very vibrant and lively.

Sailor Jentle Inks are all lively and well behaved. This serie was designed in such way any two inks look very good paired together. They are all harmonized and have a sheen when lit at an steep angle.

Most of my personal notes are taken in Sailor Epinard (green) with annotations in Sailor Abricot (orange).

Akkerman Shocking Blue is real nice. Comes in a cool bottle that is bigger than most. (either 100 or 150 mL I believe) I only have samples of it, but it and Voorhout Violet are inks that may be of interest.

I thought I was going to only use black and blue inks, but I've been looking into varying shades of purple. I guess I'll be ordering some samples first, though.

Wow! :yikes: What a stash! Would you happen to have Pea Green With Envy among your colors?

Uh... Yes. It's a color made by Organics Studio. I haven't reviewed it yet and as of the time of the ink stash photo, I hadn't added it.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
