Looking To Identify All M100 - M250 Variations

Hello everyone. As my passion for collection Pelikan pens increases, I have decided to focus my collecting habits a bit. I love the variety of the M100 through M250 series and want to focus on that area for the time being. Thats not to say I don't love the Souveran series too but it's just that they are often more expensive and out of my reach. Even though I am a collector, I use every pen that I own. The resources at ruettinger-web.de have been incredibly thorough and awesome and make up the bulk of the list below. As thorough as that list is, I still occasionally see items not listed. For instance, the brown tortoise Levenger edition frankenpen that is generally regarded as an M250 or the M150 green model that has the post-97 trim put out for the 170th anniverasary of the company. I have also seen for sale a red M200 non-demo that is difficult for me to discern whether it is genuine (vs a frankenpen) or not as there is no listing for it on ruettinger-web.de. My obsessive nature won't let me pursue a collection that leaves room for incompeleteness and that is why I need your help.

From the list below, I was hoping those of you out there could cross reference your collection to see if any pieces are missing. Right now, this list represents 52 pens. I do distinguish between the same finishes and whether they were Pre or Post 1997 vintage as the pens had different looks. The listing below denotes; BARREL COLOR, CAP COLOR, TIME PERIOD. The bold models are simply those that I own as I copied this from a spreadsheet I'd made up a while ago. It's a bit of an ambitious list to tackle but I think it will be a fun hunt, even though it will take a very long time to complete and some of the pieces can be quite expensive, but I'm already 1/3 of the way there. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I think you can add to Your list one more pen.
Pelikan M481. Although the designation M481, it is part of a Series Tradition

Here is the set.. Pelikan issued them as Pelikan Snake at that point of time. Still it looks very identical with the M101N Lizard sleeve.

I also remember seeing a variation of M200 pre-1997 pen of clear demonstrator and tortoise, having one with a single capring and the other one with double capring.

I've got a post-'97, pre-'03 M150 red/black. Cap, section, and piston knob are red/burgundy, and top finial and barrel are black. Great-looking pen. I wish it were an M200...

Yes, I have both the M200 and the M250 Tortoise models with that difference. The M250 is the Levenger model, and the M200 came used from a seller in Sweden, who, I believe purchased it new there.

Thank you for all of the replies and wonderful pics so far. To add to the initial list above from what you kind folks have provided plus what my research has turned up...

That brings the total to 66 pens so far between the various color schemes and Pre/Post-'97 model changes. If anyone has more to contribute, please do and pictures are definitely a plus. Once I get my remaining 3 pens back from Chartpak and Ron Zorn, I will post in a separate thread pics of my flock.

I have come across an M150 in black/burgundy. I have a version of this pen which is the older style with the "derby" captop. What caught my attention was that this pen had the older style barrel without the trim ring at the piston knob but the newer style cap that replaced the old "derby" type. I wonder if this was a transitional pen because I have seen the same cap on the same colored pen but with the gold piston ring which would be full new style trimmings vs a frankenpen (old barrel married to a new cap).

Anyone have any idea if this was an official release or something cobbled together?

Nobody with any experience with this one? I'm reluctant to make the purchase given the uncertainty. May just pass on this one.

For completeness sake, here is the list of all the variations I have discovered to date in one post. I hope that this might be helpful to others. I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
