It wasn't the deep dark purple that we had been asking for, but the Cult Pens / Diamine deep dark red and green inks are now out.

Well, I am deeply sad about the lack of Deep Dark Purple, but I'm super thrilled to have more in this line. I'm going to wait to see a few writing samples, but I'm sure I'll be adding them to the warehouse of ink I've got. I just want to see a writing sample so I can decide if I want a 30 or 80 mL bottle. :)

I'm imagining the new red & green colours in the corresponding new Parson's Essentials. A very smart match :-)

I shan't be getting the red as I'm not a user of that one but the green will be on my next order. Shame about the purple but let's just hope they don't fall into the 'Deep Dark Black' trap.

Can you imagine the amount of futile posts that would instigate?!

For those of you with a Purple Passion, would not the combination of Deep Dark Blue and Deep Dark Red yield Deep Dark Purple?

Sure, the proportions would require experimentation, but when you have dozens of bottles of ink like so many of us do, how else do you consume it all? ;)

That was my thought exactly - will try it when I get the red (already ordered).

First impressions of the red: gorgeous, lovely, useful.

Will try to do green sample later and reviews (but suffering from a cold....)

How does it compare to Oxblood? It looks very similar in my mind

Much darker than Oxblood and a little more towards the brown.

I like it!

And maybe they can do another duo release soon with Deep Dark Purple and Deep Dark Teal. That would be a dream combo.

I received the DDG and DDR this morning, and the green is like a richer version of my beloved Herbin Vert Empire. Lovely shading with a Danitrio stub nib.

I agree with Cybaea on the red, too. Really useful colour. Almost sober enough for business use without being taken for either red or brown. (And I'm an Oxblood fan.) I wasn't so crazy about the DD Brown as I expected to be based on my enthusiasm for the DD Blue, but overall I love this family of inks.

Ooooooooooh.

It looks similar to the Levenger Claret. I'll be interested to see the green too.

These all look great. I wish they were available in the US.

Cult Pens ships world-wide. I live in Australia and have had no problems with their shipping.

I did review the Deep Dark Red. I like it so much that it doesn't want to leave my pens  , so no review of the Deep Dark Green yet, I am afraid.

I for one didn't think they had 'room' for "another" Green/Black Black/Green Deep Dark Greeney Black at Diamine....

Wrong again :)

Lol. No it's the bluey-purple dark purpley blues they're all stocked up on, for now. There's a lot of noise about Salamander, but Graphite is almost the same colour and was met with underwhelming response. This proves that amphibian naming shifts ink, and that's a fact.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
