Where To Buy A Vintage Pelikan Fountain Pen From?

I recently directed my attention towards Pelikan, and intended to purchase an M200 (just for starters, to see how Pelikans are) but eventually decided not to, mainly because I love vintage pens. I find them a lot more reliable and beautiful (so far I have a few Parker "51"s and a few Esterbrooks). So, my question is, are there people here on the forum restoring vintage Pelikan pens? Or, are there any reputable sellers on the eBay or other online stores, preferably from Europe? The series has no importance to be (100, 120, 140, 400 etc), I just want a vintage Pelikan fountain pen. Thank you.

I would check the Pelikan offerings from penboard.de and martiniauctions.com, as well as from this ebay seller. I have purchased pens from all of them and would gladly do so again. Each have many Pelikans for sale so you should have a relatively wide choice.

I'm sure others will chime in with their preferred European sellers as well.

I've been very happy with the vintage Pelikans I've bought from Rick Propas at his website. His prices are higher often than items you'd get on eBay or here at the FPN classifieds. But the quality is correspondingly higher, and he absolutely stands behind the pens.

I will second the recommendation for Rick Propas. He has an excellent selection of pens available, too.

Let me add my voice for Rick Propas, whom I have also bought from and had good experiences with. I had mistakenly read that the OP was looking for sellers from Europe only.

I've not dealt with Rick Propas, though I've visited his website often. I'm sure he's A-1.

That said, just to give you options, Rolf Thiel I have dealt with and he is excellent and cost effective as well. His web info shows that he has a new site under construction per below. I'm not associated with him in any way. I've just had good experiences and excellent service from him.

I'm actually only looking for sellers from Europe indeed...the VAT is too high in my country ...I can't afford to pay 24% extra just because it's from outside of the EU.

thePenguinpen.com or nibs.com

?!

The OP just noted that he was looking for European sources for vintage Pelikans. thePenguinpen.com and nibs.com are both in California (and nibs.com rarely has more than one or two vintage Pelikans for sale...)

Just won http://www.ebay.com/itm/261316235777?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 ...Can't wait to write with it. What do you think? I think it's worth the price, and it's a very beautiful pen.

I have a contact who also is/was a FPN member that has a 1952 400 and a 1953 100N for sale right now. He is in Australia. I am buying a NOS 120 II and a 205 from him and getting a terrific deal. (I am in the US)

@dragos -- Looks great! Let us know what you think once you've had an opportunity to write with it.

I myself am currently waiting on this one, purchased last week on the bay:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
