For those interested in a bottle of this, would you want a full-size Noodler's bottle, or would you prefer it in a different form?

I just picked up a fresh bottle of OMBB in person from FPH, and with expressed interest here for six bottles I'm contemplating a 20-bottle batch. I guess worst case is that I have enough to last me the rest of my life several times over. . .

Masque are you buying one of the huge bottles?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Hey remember if this is a sale then it needs to be in classifieds.

I'll take a bottle of the stuff.

Ink has something in common with both money and manure. It's only useful if it's spread around.

I worry that you may get quite overwhelmed with the "me too's". Hope that's not the case. I mixed this lovely Masque Creation up when you first shared the recipe (and after acquiring the ingredients). It remains one of my favorite EDC inks, alongside Binder Burgundy and DCWaites Faux PPS. Thank you once more for sharing this excellent mix with us, Masque.

BTW...have you made any progress with your blue-black mix?

Thought I'd share my results with this mix... made this batch a number of months ago and was curious about how stable it was going to be. Very. Lovely mix, thank you Masque!

EMQG, that is an excellent idea. Why don't you send an e-mail, citing this thread! He may be amazed at this interest in this remarkable blend.

Hi all.

Two things have gotten in the way. First, I was concerned about the usual logistics and complications of scale. Would it scale directly? What if it doesn't? What if one of the ingredients has changed and it all goes wrong? But the fact is that I suppose I can afford a 15-bottle mistake. Would not end the world.

The second complication was the death of my dear son, who had in fact commented earlier in this thread. I just haven't been on top of things since.

To address questions raised here:

1. I have not brought this to Nathan. I agree that is a good idea.

2. BillH, your photo restores my hope. I'm so glad it worked out that well for you. Gracious, that's pretty.

3. If I mix up a bucketful I will respectfully, appropriately, and properly post any sales thereof in the classifieds.

4. I haven't made progress on the blue-black. Well, that's wrong. I made great progress. And then lost the recipe and haven't revisited.

Looks like maybe doing a quick mix of ~20 bottles would make sense.

Stay tuned. And leave encouraging notes here.

Oh, dear Lord, Masque! A conversation about ink is so irrelevant when you've had this terrible event. Your FPN family is with you.

I've sent an email to Masque asking for permission to talk to Nathan about it and expressing condolences. I'm sure I'll hear back eventually - but it may be a while, given these horrible circumstances.

Best wishes to you again, Masque.

Hey. I'm sorry, but I can't find that email. I've checked everywhere I know how. Please send me a PM here, or attach @pobox.com to my username here and try emailing me directly.

I appreciate the positive thoughts, to those who have sent them.

I'm happy to see what Nathan says, but in the meantime...

I think maybe I'll do a small run of, say, twenty to thirty 30-40 mL bottles and see how it goes. Goulet has sufficient bottles available for that size run, and it would let me gauge interest without having to foist 3 ounces of this stuff at a time off on those who are interested. Though I suppose for those who REALLY want it, I could send that amount. I'll have the spare bottles.

I need to figure out shipping materials. I'll try to do this in the coming week.

I'll update after that.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
