I really like my Metropolitan too. I switched the nib with a Pilot 78g .8mm italic nib or broad if you buy it from Japan or you can use the nib from the Pilot Plumix and then you have a great looking, feeling and writing italic Metropolitan.

I only acquired my first Metropolitan recently, but I'm quite impressed by the pen. Solid construction, good looks, and a very slick medium nib that writes like a fine. And for $15? What's not to love? I expect I shall add the White Tiger model to my stable when it becomes available.

Mine came with a substandard nib (waiting for replacement nib) but I certainly like the ergonomics and design.

I'm actually tempted to ink it up now - I might let it borrow the Prera's nib while I'm waiting for the new one.

Not had mine long, but certainly like it well enough (Well it's an MR technically, but same thing, right?) Don't think it's never going to make me go wow, but it's definitely made a friend as a solid user that's provided a more convenient home for the extra fine nib from the Penmanship. I'm glad I have it.

Cheers, Al

Mine are solid, dependable pens. The only issue so far is that I dropped one nib-down, and it hasn't written the same since.

Exactly!!! Alomg with the other metros i bought, i gor a plumix for the nib.

Planning on giving metropolitans for christmas this year along with nin-feathering ink samples. Last thing i want is the receivers to stop using them for feathering issues because, lets face it, most will use them on cheap paper until that FP spark ignites in their soul and they are addicted for life like the rest of us!!!!

Hahahahahaha (evil laugh)

Ive dropped one of mine(the one i use at work) but not nib down.

Ive dropped it hard though. Once the cap fell off and the nib and feed came half out, but still going strong. I cant remember if i smoothed the nib or not but did notice it writes a bit more broad than my other metros.... could just be that nib though.

My Metro wrote with too much "tooth" when I first got it. An hour later and some micromesh/mylar paper and the steel nib now rivals my Pilot VanishingPoint in smoothness! I find it really interesting how my Metro's nib has a bit of "bounce" in it just like the 18k Vanishing Point nib. This one's a keeper, that's for sure!

I have had mine for about 6 months and have found it to be a steal for the money. It is among those that I use on a day to day basis. I did swap nibs with a Plumex (I prefer the stub). All in all how can you go wrong for $15?

I also got the plumix to swap one of mine out. Did the swap today but havent had the chance to try it. Hope it is as good as i expect it to be.

4 Metropolitans might be too many. Plus going to probably add some of the new designs but give a few of the old ones. :-)

Instead of todd try brian at www.gouletpens.com they are awesome. I have purchased from both but prefer goulet for reasons too many to list.

Shipping is lightening fast and your order will always be correct and in perfect condition.

Again no affiliation but i love their service and variety.

They even have discounts on multiple bottles of inks.

Just an fyi to try and help.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
