Pen Case!

So i've recently been on the quest for the perfect pen case (for myself) and seeing how expensive some of the pre-made ones were and not yet having the supplies for the one i am designing, i decided one night to make use of a fossil wallet case i had lying around! I might add also that i made this being completely free with just stuff around the house! Hinges, hot glue gun, newspaper, fabric, and Popsicle sticks! I thought you all would get a kick out of it and maybe inspire someone who didn't have the money to buy a case, like me...aka college student, to make one! Sorry for the sideways pictures also! post-106129-0-73263400-1381038048.jpgpost-106129-0-35825700-1381038054.jpgpost-106129-0-00870600-1381038060.jpg

Awesome work, dgreenwood116

Yours is beautiful and a great sample of recycling. I carry my pens in a hard shell eyeglass case or cigar case.

I've tried to find something like this, but i'm worried about them rubbing together or if the inside isn't padded enough. :(

I'm pretty sure my TWSBI's will be okay. If I were carrying more expensive pens, then they would have individual cases.

Clever!

Who would know it's made from odd bits and pieces? Plus, reuse is better than recycling, any day.

Nice work and very functional. Are you leaving the outside as is, or are you covering the labels?

Thank You! The outside looks like a wood grain and is pretty nice, but i leave it open all the time just like a display case holding the pens i'm not currently using! So i'll probably leave the outside like it is!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
