Hi GClef!

I just now spotted this topic. I'd definitely be interested if the time and place were right.

I'm living in Ocean County around the Toms River area.

I also hope to get to the Philadelphia Pen show in January.

Depending on the location, I may be interested in attending, as long as you're allowing those of us on the west side of the Delaware.

I will gladly take your unwanted Noodler's pens. Don't throw them away.

I am in. I've done the Philly club last few years, would be happy to host something in our office in Princeton - it's a good central location and we've a pretty good brew pub down the street.

Right on!

Princeton sounds great, and we can retire to the Triumph after/during/before the meet (or maybe you had some other brew pub in mind?). If it's December, count me in.

Depending on when and where, I could be interested.

I am near Delaware Water Gap, PA. I also commute

to NJ/NYC everyday. As for the Philly Show, I have been

there for the last five years. Looking forward to this year.

I live in Philadelphia but am from South Jersey. Would definitely be interested in joining this gathering.

If y'all decide to meet anywhere within easy reach of NYC, i.e. Newark/Jersey City up to Paramus, even Bayonne, I'll cross the river and represent the Big Apple Pen Club on a diplomatic passport..

Meeting in the Lawrence/Princeton area may be a good solution:

- It's in the middle of the state

- Easy access to Rte 1/Rte 130/Turnpike/95/etc..

- Does not interfere with Philly/NY clubs/groups

Thoughts??

We've offices in downtown Princeton, on Hulfish Street (if you know the restaurant Mediterra we are right next door). On street parking can sometimes be a challenge but there are three public garages within 2 blocks. Our conference room can sit about 10 comfortably around the table and we can easily squeeze in another 6 or so around the perimeter. Lots of pubs nearby if anyone is of a mind for some refreshment before or after.

With a little advances notice I am sure I could accommodate such a gathering, perhaps between Thanksgiving (and Chanukah) and Christmas? They really decorate the town nicely for the holidays.

Personally, I'd be up for one of those spur of moment meets. Only thing is, I know it's more difficult to get the people together that way.

I'm pretty low on the totem pole at work, so it's hit or miss with stuff planned way in advance.

Sounds good to me as well!

Shaporama, how about some dates for possible gatherings? Tell us what's good for you!

Please suggest some dates. Sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas sounds good to me.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
