Choosing A Sumi Ink For Fine Hairlines

I am currently using McCaffrey Penman's Ink (black) with a Zebra G nib to address wedding invitations. I love this ink because it does so well on most papers and produces incredibly fine hairlines. However, for those times when I need a blacker ink, is there a sumi ink that performs as well? Please include any details on whether or not you dilute the sumi ink.

Moonpalace diluted 6 parts ink, 4 parts distilled water. Written on Rhodia with a well used Esterbrook 128. I believe it was in a Michael Sull holder

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
