Pelikan Nib Reproduction!

rrs

Recommended Posts

Everyone is probably aware that Pelikan over last year have started dramatically reducing their nib range.

After speaking to a contact who has been conversing with Pelikan, they will only be producing:

EF

F

M

B

Stopping BB & All Oblique Nibs!

The question that I would like to pose is, if Pelikan did a production run of 500 nibs for say the M800 & M600 range. The 500 nibs split into 250 of one type of nib & 250 of another.

Which Nibs would you like to see production of:

Italic: 1.1, 1.3, 1.5, 1.7, 1.9

Stub Nib.

Please leave a choice of two nib types!

& How many people would be interested in buying one of the pens with reproduction nibs...?

Thank You

Regards

Personally:

A Italic 1.3 Nib, allowing enough line variation but allowing writing to be a nice size for everyday use.

&

A Stub Nib!

I would buy one of each. Already have a M800 with 1.5 mm nib and waiting for M805 to arrive tomorrow with 1.5 mm nib!

Thanks

I'd go for a stub and a 1.3. Hopefully they'd be 14k, as the 18k nibs have a firmness I'm not particularly fond of.

Thanks for the feedback.

Meanwhile, how will this affect the M205 highlighter models, which currently come with BB nibs?

Not sure but could try to find out.

Any thoughts on nibs mentioned?

Cheers

I just took posession of a new nib, an Italic Broad for my M800 yesterday. I fiddled and doodled with it into the evening. I don't know the width (anybody know this?) but I really like it. I would love to have a simliar nib for M600 and M400 pens. And I would not have any qalms at all about buying abother of these nibs should I pick up another M800. This is without queston the very best, brand new, factory made, out-of-the-box nib I have purchased.

Ummm, ... did I mention that I like it?

oh yes, a plain stub about .7 to .9 mm would also be very nice. This has been about my favorite spec for a nib until I got this IB nib.

Glad to see you received you're IB nib yesterday, I today received my M805 with an IB nib.

If it's the same nib it's a 1.5mm.

You'll thoroughly enjoy I have two now M800 & M805 both with IB nibs. Like yourself I would also like to see a stub nib!

Thanks

!.5 sounds about right. It's wide, wider than I am used to but not a problem because it is such a great writer.

Can you post a writing sample!

Both of mine are 1.5mm. A 1.3mm would me nice...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
