Any update on availability of the Curate please?

We are awaiting the platers, you would not think that such a minor part of the manufacturing process would hold everything up, but it has. It is often the case with the initial orders placed with suppliers, we hope that future orders for stock replacements will be easier for us. I will keep you advised as to progress. MrPen

I'm really excited to see this pen in someone's hands. Most of your pens, besides the Parson's, have been too heavy for me, but I still love their gorgeous looks.

Will it be available before the Curate?

Franklin-Christoph, Italix, and Pilot pens are the best!
Iroshizuku, Diamine, and Waterman inks are my favorites!

Apica, Rhodia, and Clairefontaine make great paper!

No, after. We have most of the parts for the Curate, the plating is waiting our approval, then we screw them together.

Fantastic? Any more information on the Commodore*? I'd love to see some measurements and maybe a video of the parts up close.

*With all these high-ranking pens, I feel like there needs to be a Lieutenant's Ambition pen or something at the entry level.

That sounds a lot like the Parson's Essential in size and weight. I think I'm in love!

Do you mind showing off the clip's springiness in the video? That's the one thing I detest about my Parson's, and something I've always enjoyed about your other pens. I just can't bring myself to buy such heavy pens.

An all metal pen, this time though. The clip is conventional and instead of being braced from inside the pen it is attached at the top of the cap in the usual manner. The pen in its italic form is ultra smooth and free flowing. The standard medium is on the fine side of medium, if that makes sense.

The English Curate has been delayed, the product did not meet the quality standard we demanded, so we have rejected the first batch and we have also requested some redesigning. It means the pen will be delayed by a month or so, but it will be worth it. The 'Commodore's Credential' is on schedule and supplies are expected mid April or maybe a bit before. MrPen.

I know it is not good for you, but in a way I am pleased to read this. It shows that even with a reasonably priced product you have an eye for detail and quality..

I just got a Commodore's Credential and it's terrific! I got a medium cursive stub, the first time I've had one, and it's delightfully smooth, yet somehow characterful. Seems wettish, which is what I like, with just the faintest hint of feedback, which for me makes it more pleasurable to write with, rather than less.

I treated myself to this pen for my birthday, and I really didn't expect it to arrive in time, today. But it did, even though I only ordered yesterday afternoon. It's a little bit of luxury at a really very modest price.

Thank you, Mr Pen!

Thanks for the mini-review. I've been debating between the plain medium and the cursive stub for this pen for a while.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
