Best Place To Buy M1000

Recommended Posts

Hi:

I would very much like to purchase a new M1000. I would like to know if anyone can recommend a reliable website that can offer the best price for the pen. I have been looking around, and I am very unsure as to which online retailer I should trust.

Thank you very much for your input.

You mght consider Mr John Motishaw near by you for an M1000. http://www.nibs.com/PelikanM1000Series.htm. If it does not have to be new, you can have your choice of several (with nib of choice) also from Motishaw; http://www.nibs.com/PreOwnPE_pelikancont.htm at a considerable price drop. I suggest this soucrce since trust is the only criteria you mention. You might find a better deal but you would have trouble finding a more reliable source. I am a satified customer with no affiliation.

Hi

They are £320 from their UK supplier which is about $500 so quite a good price, obviously shipping etc will be extra but probably not that much extra and a lot better than the $680 classic are asking.

Which makes a nice change from Rip Off Britain.

I think both places mentioned are good places.

You will pay $680 from nibs ( I think free shipping to the us at the price ), it will be verified by John as to writing correctly. And you will only have to deal with your state taxes on top of the order

For pelikan UK the prices you see you have to divide by 1.2 (20%) to get the export /pre tax price and times by the current exchange rate. Shipping is £10 which means a current price is around $450 shipped. The only thing to watch for is customs fees when you receive it.

If you want a nib bigger than B these are in reduced supply. There are some other good eBay vendors but you were after more traditional websites I believe.

As mentioned above by other posters, Niche Pens in England is one the best stockists for the various Pelikan models.

I find Martiniauctions to be extremely competitive for those of us outside Europe and not paying the 19% VAT. Regina's service and reputation is beyond reproach. If you are patient you will grab one at a significantly reduced price. Happy hunting!

pengallery.com has the best price on the M1000 I've seen, I've bought two pens from them, one great, the other a dud so I can't vouch for their QA at all, but the price is very good and shipping from Malaysia is very quick.

I purchased an M1000 but it was seriously big, too big for me, looked comical.

Pre-owned is the way to go with these...@ $300 or so....No way this pen is worth $700 or whatever the street price is...No Way...

But Overstock.com has them in Medium Nib Black and Gold for $473.00

They will email out a 15% off coupon and that makes it $403.00 for a NIB one

I could not find that price on overstock.. "black and gold trim Medium nib" came up for AUD 712, which is about USD 660.

Must be US only deal? Still $660 here.

Edit: Still a good deal for CONUS. Nevermind buddy, I'm really after the 1005 anyway. Cheers.

If you don't want to risk getting a dud buy from Richards Pens, but you'll pay a bit more for it.

Eyedoc, Mike_Dowling, and Guy007, your tips are all good.. btw, I'm on speaking terms with either Regina, Lai, or printhardcopy. I can get a mate's rate easily from them. Shame that good tips of your are burried under these one liner moving targets.

PS: Beyond dollar, if I were in the US I'd probably just contact Rick Propas anyway! Cheers.

Mock their suggestions if you like. Drop some more names and maybe they'll pay you to take the pen.

Shopping carefully, I bought a near new M1000 on ebay for $265. Sold it for the same.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
