Gawjus! Cordovan and gold look beautiful together.

The only thing which is not right in that pic is my handwriting

It's a lot better than my Arabic. ;)

And a lot better than my chinese. Lol.

Lol, well I doubt any of you finished your secondary education and university education (actually I hold three degrees in three different fields) in Arabic or Chinese, but I have gone through the English system, so I am expected to have at least an acceptable handwriting.

Best regards.

Lol. I too have four master degrees in Arabic, English, Persian and Islamic Law and Theology. I too studied in Cambrige back in 80s. That is why I said "AND a lot better than my Chines".

That's wonderful mitto, we can start correspondence in all the three languages you mentioned , I have to admit I knew a little bit of Gujarati and Urdu as well (I had very many Pakistani and Indian friends in school) but I have almost forgotten it all because of lack of practice.

Parker Frontier 1996 - I was aiming for a different pen in an eBay lot, but this one has really impressed me!

Now that the micturition contest has concluded.

:lticaptd:

No, I didn't know what it meant. But I have the Merriam-Webster website bookmarked for just such occasions. (I love FPN, because I'm always learning *something* -- even if it's not what I was expecting to learn.... B))

Back on topic: today, it's been the Parker Vac Silver Pearl Major, with De Atramentis Silver Grey, for my morning pages journal entry. In a bit, it will be the bright blue (Aqua?) Vector with R&K Documentus Hellblau -- I need to mail my M-i-L a birthday card.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

If I might interrupt the linguistic peregrinations: today's Parker is a cedar blue vac 51 with a first year blue diamond clip. It's been a journey, but this is my favourite 51 in the collection. I'm in perfect sync with this pen.

A BCHR Lucky Curve with a #2 nib and 2 1/2 on the blind cap. It's my understanding that getting the date/model on these can be a little tricky, but after a new sac it's a good writer.

An antique. My grandmothers P61 capillary filler with Quink washable blue ink. This pen lay idle for decades and is now in action again. Well made they were those days.

Lovely, indeed. I like that flat nib, with its clean, modern design. It's the same nib as the 75s, isn't it? Do any other Parkers have that nib style?

1975 Parker 45 Flighter CT, medium nib with forty year old, original cartridge ink.

First time it's written for about forty years, too & also my first use of a fountain pen since around 1981.

Regards,

Frank

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
