Thanks a lot for sharing these new colours. Is Diamine Tulip pure red or does it have a bit of pink/magenta hue in it?

Thanks a lot for sharing these new colours. Is Diamine Tulip pure red or does it have a bit of pink/magenta hue in it?

I have a similar question. On my monitor at home, Tulip looks red with some pink, but on my monitor at work, it looks like red-orange like Ruby.

Iris looks like Bilberry. Burgundy Rose looks like Red Dragon.

It seems you can get these colors in the basic Diamine line. They don't look too different than what they already offer.

I suspect that some people will find them similar enough, and others will appreciate the subtle differences. I'm a huge ink lover and spend tons of time pouring over comparisons between various inks I own. I am thrilled with the idea of comparing these to existing Diamine inks I own, to see just how close they are.

It will definitely be interesting to compare!

Thanks for the sneak preview! Some of the inks look rather similar to existing Diamine inks -

Aster - Diamine Meditteranean Blue

Cornflower - Diamine Sapphire Blue

Iris - Diamine Bilberry

Pansy - Diamine Grape/Imperial Purple

Bougainvillea - Diamine Deep Magenta

Carnation - Diamine Hope Pink

Burgundy Rose - Diamine Syrah

Gerbera - Diamine Vermillion

Wow, I really like the flower set. Sorry I missed the review before. The colors are beautiful.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Joyous - I have (and love) the Music Set, and I'll be jumping on these as soon as they're available; the colours are right up my alley.

Wow this set is certainly causing a great deal of excitement.

After having communicated with Phil at Diamine, I am assured that this is a brand new set of colours and not repackaged ones from the current offerings. There is shading and sheen galore, I will be uploading reviews in the next week or so. The set as stated by TGC in the OP is due for general release from the 23rd of October similarly packaged to the incredible Music Collection but with new artwork including a drawing of each flower per colour. I imagine we also have to be careful about judging from scans/ photos as monitor resolutions and other technical stuff cannot possibly render a true version of the colours - this will have to be seen by eye. Congratulations once more to the Diamine R&D teams for yet more enabling..!

Let's hope the Salamander is 'allowed out' around the same time too!

I can't wait for Salamander, and as you named it, it is even more greatly anticipated!

I should point out, Bhavna, that your absolutely beautiful (and very informative) reviews were ENTIRELY responsible for my shelling out for the Music Set in the first place. I haven't regretted it at all. I look forward to seeing what you do with the Flower Set!

The UK retailers have received stock and are taking pre-orders.

We have recently received a delivery of the latest inks to be released by Diamine. The newest inks, inspired by all things bright and beautiful and flowery,[...] AS with the Musicians series, the colours are unique to this series, and replacements can only be purchased by those who have bought the set. They're being released next month, and we will accept pre orders.

Let the stampede begin! :D

I am no longer very active on FPN but feel free to message me. Or send me a postal letter!

Yes, I received the 'note' from Write Here as well. Deep Joy to all those interested.

[A] Will a pre-order in fact assure any pre-shipment?

Is there any connection -- in regard to ordering -- between this ink and yours (Salamander)?

Than's, Mike

I am unaware of any pre-ordering procedure regarding Salamander. As far as I know, that's a stand-alone colour in the general Diamine range not part of any set. I mentioned on here that it's due out in October, which is the last I heard from Phil Davies.

So, in answer to your comments:

A) Don't know

B) Not that I'm aware at all.

And forgive the typos in the first version about Write Hers. That's just to do with my wife's pens and nothing about my local supplier in Shrewsbury!

Here's a Spire in your general direction!!!!!

How interesting. i was unimpressed by the swabs and reviews of the musician set; I didn't see a single ink that appealed to my (weird) tastes. Lots of muddy tones.

But almost all these new Flower colors look great, at least for trying. And if refills are to be available of favorites (I'm talking about you, Cornflower), I might be able to break the chains of my Herbin Violette Pensee addiction.

It would surprise me if refills are available in the traditional way. I don't know, since I don't have the Musician set, but I had heard that buying the set was the only way to get refills and that they weren't as inexpensive as the regular Diamine inks. But someone who did get the Musician set can correct me.

I'm really looking forward to this set. At least three of the colors have me pretty excited, and I think it will be something that I need to pick up! :-)

I really don't want to find out, but so far I have over 150 :) I am sure there are plenty lurking around with a bigger hoard.

195 bottles (no samples) with 5 more inks in the mail from Goulets.

Yes I will buy the flower set even though I have Diamine inks that look pretty similar to those...

Yes, that's correct on both counts - and the code to get the refills is on the cardboard box that the presentation box is packed in, so you have to be careful not to throw that away.

But I *really* think both sets were worth it. I managed to get the Flower Set early at the LWES show last weekend, and it's making me very happy. They are lovely inks; great saturation, and a lovely finish - I use flex pens mostly, and they suit them very well. I use the inks from the Music set a lot - I haven't finished any of them yet, but Tchaikovsky, Bach, Handel and Vivaldi will probably be gone some time over the next year.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
