Yes, too much protestation. I found out the hard way that when someone drags out the kiddies and starts playing the violin (especially the poor adopted orphans) run like hell. It's either a professional sort of a transaction or it's no sale.

I found this on ebay a week or so ago, then showed my friend (also a pen enthusiast), his first words were "WOW! A MONT BLANC FOR THAT AMOUNT!!"

Then I scrolled up to the title: "What the....."

Then down to the description: He's on the floor laughing his behind off.

This thread provided a lot of nice humor.

I bet we'll be hearing about this pen again: "Suddenly, I lost all my clients to a start-up, my wife left me for my father, my children disowned me, and my dog abandoned me... the psychic told me I have a curse and it won't go away unless I can sell this pen!"

Reminds me of this:

I'm not affiliated with ANY of the brands/retailers/shops/ebay sellers/whatever I mention or recommend. If that ever changes, I will let you know :)

Looking for a cheap Pilot VP/Capless - willing to put up with lots of cosmetic damage.

Well, I am the sucker that ended up with this infamous pen, I have another star walker that is identical with the exception that the cap is cracked on this one. I am new to Fp collecting but if this is a fake pen it seems inconceivable that all the fine details are the same.

If anyone wants to see additional images of this pen to help with the identifying the possibility of to being a fake, please let me know what to look for

The best place to post this query is the MontBlanc forum.

If it really is a fake, you can report the seller on ebay and get a refund.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
