Penister,

Could you at least tell us what patterns your overlays are? Some are quite a bit more rare than others. Just asking about your 458's and 558's here of course. Also, wondering why you have no 0558's?

I am kind of thinking that we may just have. This "Penister" just so happens to live in Michigan, as stated on his profile. If you see below, the scammer Brandon Cifani's Facebook page also states that he lives in Michigan. On fountain pen geeks, there is a whole topic on this scammer, which includes details of his last scam. It seems that Brandon has created another FPN profile to scam others. His post listing all of his pens is simply bait for our fellow members, he thought we would try to buy them from him.

If you are reading this Brandon, what you have done is a very serious crime, I would strongly recommend making money honestly. You seem to be very young, I don't think you want to throw your life away over this.

"I really can't tell FPB how much I truly apologize. My actions were very arrogant, and irresponsible. I would like to apologize to everyone I have hurt, as I wasn't trying to deceive anybody. Simply I was looking for another buyer, so that two people could afford one collection of pens. But what I failed to consider, is I can only sell pens after I've bought them.

I very much take full responsibility for my stupidity, and I sincerely apologize to the fullest degree for my actions."

This is Brandon's apologe after the second time he tried to scam someone, in which he tried steal $33,000 by advertising a collection of pens that aren't his.

This is honestly depressing.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
