Very nice pen. Parkers are...well...timeless.

Best of luck with it.

So what will your first ink color be?

Thank you so much, Peter. It's Pelikan 4001 Violet but I'm thinking Persimmon or Deep Green from Pilot's Iroshizuku inks.

You're welcome. Use it well.

I have three iroshizuku inks myself, but no greens yet [only take-sumi (black), yama-guri (brown), and yama-budo (crimson)]. As for my "greens", I have a Noodler's Gruene Cactus which I've tried in my Parker 51 vacumatic with a fine nib, and I like that ink/pen combo quite a lot. I also just got a bottle of Pelikan aventurine, but I haven't inked any pens up with that one yet. I'll let you know how it works out.

Yes, please let me know about the aventurine. Sounds scrumptious, if one can say that about ink. I also want the Yama Budo. I love, love, love my 51. It was one of the pens in an $8 bag of pens. It's a perfect pen in every way.

Thank you, NABodie. I'm looking forward to polishing it up.

Well, that's a wonderful pen, I personally love Vacumatics, they are amazing pens and great writers, you will have a great time with that.

Thank you, AeRoberto! I think I want to collect all of the Vacumatics!

Now that would be a feat. All the colors is certainly doable but all the variations would blow your mind!

just the different colors in the three styles as pictured below makes for a nice set!

And then there are the Imperials!

NABodie, are you trying to make me jealous? It worked! Beautiful collection!

Very true! How long has it taken you to acquire that collection?

I'd better slow down because since joining, now two weeks ago, I've acquired 10 pens! I need to be more discriminating and more selective but I tend to just buy what I like, what looks pretty.

lol... It's appropriate for me. I do all my own stunts. ;)

(I broke my fifth metatarsal in karate a few years ago and then shattered my ankle in our garden this past November.)

I learned not to slide at third base on the softball field.

All those pens started with one pretty vacumatic, then another and another............

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
