Thanks everybody - I'm really enjoying this pen - think it will become my main writer for the time being.

Pictured below is my "Aurora" 100 which also arrived this week - it has the new two-tone nib and is a fine. not managed to ink it yet but just happy admiring the colours for now.

That's great. Most people have an Aurora 88, you have an Aurora 100!! :D

Enjoy

Those are both great looking pens: the conservative silver trimmed black chased resin, and the bright and cheerful gold trimmed aurora (?) resin.

Can you give us some details about this pen please? Is it brand new? Where did you purchase it? Is the color called Aurora? I have a Belliver in a color called Borealis which looks very similar to your 100. I wasn't aware that CS made this color in any other model. Love it in the 100 too.

Hi,

The pen in the image is the new 100 Series in the Nebula finish.

The Nebula has been a popular colour for many Conway Stewart models. The hand-made resin is a mixture of blue, purple and red, interspersed with accents of pearlescent white. When you turn the pen in your hand, the pearlescent shimmers and makes all the colours come to life.

Kind regards,

Mary Burke

Given only those three colors, I would have to choose the Nebula. I have the Belliver in the LE Borealis edition, which is similar to the Nebula in color, and it is visually stunning. My favorite of my 3 resin CS pens, for sure.

Ah, thanks Mary. To quote myself (above) "visually stunning". His photos really make the Nebula color glow, and it looks outstanding in the new 100 with gold trim!!

Hi - as mentioned in a previous post somewhere, I am very lucky in that I live in one of the few cities in the UK that has an independent specialist pen shop - FG Thomas. As this shop celebrated its 100 year anniversary of trading in Sheffield last year, the owner Gary Ellison (who is a member of this network - gee009) commissioned 100 pens of 5 differing designs to commemorate it. The pen shown is brand new and is a "Thomas Edition Aurora" and is limited to 20. I have seen the Belliver Borealis which I too think is a similar colour.

I have no affiliation to the shop - I only started collecting fountain pens in January of this year. I'm just a very happy customer as Gary has been extremely helpful in teaching me more about the hobby and introducing me to brands that I had never even heard of before entering his shop.

Below is a picture of the rest of my collection so far - the blue pen has a cap band designed by Henry Simpole.

I like that capband.....I find a whole overlay just too much of a good thing, but his is great.

Enjoy your lovely pens.

The shop, FG Thomas, is he the one of Sheaffer'S fame? Wanted to visit him 2 yrs ago when I was on holiday but learned that the shop was closed as he was off to the DC penshow.....

Gorgeous!

I was aware that Gary was talking with Christine Care (Operations Director) to arrange for these special editions, but did not have the opportunity to see the final decision of colours and designs. This edition is a hit and I am sure will sell out quickly!
It looks like the 100 series with the Henry Simpole cap band has a longer cap, but that could be just an illusion.
I am sorry that I did not know the final choice of colours, and I was referring to Andy's Pens website for the picture of the Model 100 in Nebula.
Kudos to Garry and Christine for making the above 100 series available in celebration of FG Thomas company's centenary anniversary!

Kind regards,

Mary Burke

Agree on the Simpole cap band, lovely but subtle.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
