Parker Penman Available At Local Parker

A week ago I saw they have four colors of Panman listed on the site, and I asked about the availability. I know they are discontinued, this is why it was interesting.

They answered they have the "Ruby, Brown, Black and Blue".

I guess this means the Ruby, Mocha, Ebony and Sapphire.

As I know they are pretty high maintenance inks, so not sure if I'll try them though...

I have had the Mocha and it is a fantastic brown colour. Alas I did not know about the high maintenance...

Anyway, it would be a good idea to buy a bottle just for the bottle, with that nice insert to dip your pen in. (something like the old Skrip bottles)

Wish my local shop had some.

Buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are lots of high maintenance Noodler's and Private Reserve inks out there being used every day. Could well be those are as high maintenance or higher than the Pennman.

The problem with the Pennman inks was no one knew about cleaning the pens back in the last century. Pre-goggle, pre FPN...the Dark Ages of the last century.

I used pens as a kid in the silver dime days, and no one I knew of even knew about cleaning a pen. I didn't.

You know about cleaning your pen regularly....so buy or at least tell them here with money where they can buy.

You have heard of investments.....that stuff can be swapped for gold coin.

OK so, I've contacted them and they said they might ship abroad, but the shipping costs/methods and payment method should be discussed first.

Their stock is limited, but you can drop a mail to parker at parker dot hu and ask about the details.

I can help with shipping if someone would need it, just drop me a pm. ;)

Hi. I can see four colours listed. Could you translate the colournames?

You speak of brown, but I cannot find that, I guess I see blue/sapphire, raspberry, emerald and ebony black on their site.

Thanks

Yes, you are correct.

They don't have the Mocha listed, but as I know they have that too.

I have ordered a bottle of the Sapphire...

I will send them an email next week.

BTW: The prices they list for the pens are outrageous compared to prices in some other EU countries!

You wear goggles when you clean your pens?

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

Ooooops :headsmack:

Sorry, yes....I meant that for the inks.

Most pens are overpriced here, like you saw. There are few what can be had for a somewhat more reasonable price, but only with one nib size, or in one color for example...This is a small market and everyone wants a big profit...

But I had some good finds in the used market. And most inks have good prices, so at least I can get those here.

I hope it is at least a steampunk one :lticaptd:

Love these steampunk goggles..... Where did that pic come from? would like to see more...

About penprices: There are some trustworthy e-bay shops out here that will send to Hungary, and as you are in the EU that would be no hassle I think...

Yes there are great places to choose from. I have many of my stuff from abroad...

The high shipping prices are what scare me most of the time..

OK. I called them about a minute ago.

They are very friendly and trying their best, but they haven't really had too many international (especially from overseas) orders yet. So please be patient with them. ;)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
