Hello folks!

After being a silent reader for a while, I will try to post something here.. (english is not my daily language, so hang on.. :) )

I just recently fascinated by fountain pen few months ago. It's all started when me and my father went to meet his old friend in a meeting who has a S.T Dupont Elysee. Then I remembered that I have had a fountain pen back when I was 10 yrs old. I can't remember the brand but it was printed with colorful jungle and animals picture on its plastic body. The first thing I did to it was try to figure out how it is worked, try to take everything apart, ink all over places, thankfully I was able to put those back together. I brought the pen to school (got many "ooh" and "aah" from friends) and use it everyday until it broke (I dropped it and destroy the nib). I shared this memory with my father and he gave me a MB Starwalker next week (thanks dad!). And that begins my FP journey. Now I  have a Sheaffer 100 M, Lamy Al Star (+spare nibs), Parker Urban and the Starwalker and bottles of inks, and I hope my collection will start growing, despite low availability in my local market. My next target maybe a FaberCastell.

I see a good community here and tons of knowledge. You rocks guys!!

Welcome to FPN.

What a nice gift from your father. A great way to start a nice hobby in fountainpens.

Welcome !

Your story is charmingly similar to mine.  As a young boy, I took apart my fountain

pens, my watch, my alarm clock, the lock on our front door.  All results were not

good.  I recall having a plastic fountain pen covered with many small "animals" or

"creatures".  I dropped it AND stepped on it.   Certainly, you have wonderful

memories, as I do.

Thank you for joining us.

Welcome to FPN !

I wonder if you could convince my dad to give me a MB. That would be SO cool!

I'm a newbie here too, and like you have been watching the forum for quite a time, before saying hello. People have been very welcoming.

Oh - and your English is just great!

Hello there and greetings from Malaysia.

It's great to be part of this community who eat, breathe and sleep pens !

Needless to say many of us are influenced by our dads when they gave us our very first pen to mess around with. Mine was a Hero fountain pen which I vaguely remember but the impression was lasting and planted the seed of my interest. Later on I was given a Parker 45 and some other ballpoint pens. My interest hibernated for 2 decades till recently when I started surfing the FPN in search of some vintage pens.

So here I am and looking forward to more interactions.

Have a good weekend everyone !

Yes. It would be really good to hear about Indonesian pens.

We here quite a bit now about Chinese and Indian Sub Continent pens, but I don't recall seeing anything about Indonesia (or many other fountain pen making countries).

Photos would be nice, as well, as some things are just so hard o describe.

Don't forget we also love to see photos of Orangutans!  :)

Welcome Blackoala. Your English is fine, definitely much better than our Indonesian.. Well, except me because I spent many years there, like Obama lol

But this is an english speaking forum, so let's be charitable to others.

Jadi kalo cuma ngalor ngidul gua bisa.. But via PM please :)
