Sheeny Blue Inks?

WOW, how nice of you to take out some time, thank you! Really made my choice for me and saved me some $$$, Sargasso Sea here I come!

I have and use all three of these beautiful inks. I like each for different reasons; the Majestic Blue does have a really nice reddish undertones (I like to think they are undertones, not overpowering, but subtle), the Bilberry is a really beautiful Blueish-purple, very dark and wet. The Sargasso Sea, is a nice very darkish blue, with gold overtones (though they don't always show up on all papers). All three write pretty wet in my pens, and are a tad on the slower dry time. Any of these should fit the bill nicely I think.

Diamine Midnight is a nice dark blue with redish highlights and sheen, one of my favourite inks. It's very well behaved. Sailor Jentle Blue is also very nice.

In blacks, I get a sheen sometimes from Pelikan 4001 Black.

Iroshizuku Syo-Ro has a nice purplish sheen, but it is more of a turquoise.

Sargasso Sea is a bit temperamental, but nice with the right combo (triomphe paper, wet pen).

Jentle Sky High is a light blue with a nice, light red sheen.

I'm not a big fan of red, in fact I try to avoid them, golden seems much more majestic.

I have Diamine ASA blue and it has some sheen. Bilberry has much more sheen but both are a little to purple for my preference.

Sargasso's sheen looks red to me. They both look red, thought Majestic more so.

Others, what do you think?

If you like the ink, just order it. Don't let any preconceived notion of what looks "majestic" dictate/alter your initial interest.

It looks somewhere in the middle to my eyes. Not as red as Majestic Blue, but not a true gold like Velvet Black or Bilberry.

Circlepattern - If you want a sample before you purchase send me a PM, I'd be happy to send you some to try out.

Guys, I realize this has nothing to do with current topic, but what's up with the bronze, silver, gold, etc memberships? I didn't even notice how I turned into gold membership!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
